How to recover from your addiction and take your life back Is it starting to seem like you may never be able to beat your addiction? Are you tired of lying and hurting your loved ones? Do you want your family back in your life? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then keep reading... If you or someone you love struggles with substance abuse, you're not alone. According to the Pew Research Center and the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 46% of Americans say they have a relative or close friend who's battling addiction, with over 19.7 million adults in the US suffering from a drug use disorder. And there are millions more around the globe. Sadly, that also means there are millions of people who've lost hundreds of hours of sleep due to withdrawal... millions of mothers and fathers who've spent night after night wondering if they'll get that dreaded call. People who've had to sell all the things they care about just to make ends meet...crossed all the lines they said they would never cross... who've tried to quit countless times before...who feel hopeless in the face of relapse. I was once in your shoes and am here to show you how to change. No matter what's happened in the past, there's always something that can be done. In fact, statistics from the CDC show that 75% of people with an addiction eventually recover. Which means recovery is mostly a discussion of when, not if. The good news is you don't have to wait around for when to happen. By following the step-by-step program laid out in this guide, you'll instantly put yourself on the road to recovery. So you can finally get back to having a life again. In this book, you will discover: The 5 simple steps to recovering from an addiction How to reset the 5 "filters" in your life to create a growth mindset The 5 factors that influence the likelihood of addiction Different approaches to rehab, and how to know which option works best for you How to stop the "blame game" and show yourself the gratitude you deserve How to change your life by just changing your thoughts 12 guiding spiritual principles to help you move toward inner peace and happiness How to overhaul your daily routine with healthy lifestyle choices How to stop relapse from happening with a crisis prevention plan How to understand the language of a 12-step program and what it is all about And much more! Recovery is a process, but it doesn't have to be lonely. That's what this book is for. To give you the support and willpower you need to keep up the fight every waking second. So even in times where you feel like there's no one to turn to... when you're worried you might relapse... and you're afraid you can't control yourself... You can always rely on this guide to keep you clean and get you through your toughest moments. We can recover!

Book Description
Motivation is key to substance use behavior change. Counselors can support clients' movement toward positive changes in their substance use by identifying and enhancing motivation that already exists. Motivational approaches are based on the principles of person-centered counseling. Counselors' use of empathy, not authority and power, is key to enhancing clients' motivation to change. Clients are experts in their own recovery from SUDs. Counselors should engage them in collaborative partnerships. Ambivalence about change is normal. Resistance to change is an expression of ambivalence about change, not a client trait or characteristic. Confrontational approaches increase client resistance and discord in the counseling relationship. Motivational approaches explore ambivalence in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way.

Book Description
Many people are either addicted to, or recovering from addiction, whether it is alcohol, or drugs, prescription medication, sex, gambling, porn or the internet. This is a workbook and personal guide to finding freedom from our addictions. One Day at a Time Recovery is a recovery workbook for all kinds of addictions that will help addicts make significant steps into recovery and sobriety. A help for managing your addiction and breaking destructive habits Despite unprecedented attention on addiction and recovery, the Centers for Disease control estimates that 114 people die a day because of drug misuse. Other sources estimate that a mere 5 to 20 percent of people who go through formal addiction recovery programs make it to sobriety in the first two years. There is clearly a need to include holistic methods to prevent relapse and building a new life after addiction. One Day at a Time Recovery workbook offers a practical daily do it yourself best practices approach to long term relapse prevention and sobriety. Follow this strategy and you might as well achieve the recovery and sobriety results achieved by others who managed to heal from their addictions. Like cancer traits in a human body, addictive behaviors fall on a spectrum, and they can be a normal response to extreme situations. One Day at a Time Recovery book is a guide to helping you become "normal again". This book is unlike other normal informational addiction and recovery books, educating you on what addiction is or what it is not, and which treatment approach works best for any individuals, rather, this is a workbook that you can use to reset your mind and brain to then recreate your desired life. Because recovery is possible, you can stop any compulsive behavior and experience sobriety. One Day at a Time Recovery is a paradigm shifting recovery and sobriety platform for living free from addiction.

Book Description
This book of Recovery Columns is a collection of my experiences getting and staying clean and sober. There are two distinct viewpoints, my own and affected family members of an active alcoholic or addict. Addiction is a family disease. The addict or alcoholic is not the only sick family member. Alcoholism and addiction spread through the family like any other infectious disease. No one will be left untouched or unaffected. My goal is to educate those who still suffer and the families that no longer know how to deal with them. As an active addict, the lengths I would go to obtain what I needed from the drug world were long and startling. I did not know who I had become. I was lost to this disease and was desperate for help, I just didn't know how to ask. Many missteps are made when non-alcoholics or addicts try to intervene. It takes one to know one. I have had many conversations with well-meaning family members desperate to help. They bring their own brand of desperation to the table and it rarely works. We know how badly we have let you down, we don't need to have it replayed over and over. You may feel justified, and rightly so, however, it isn't productive. If the family is concerned the addict may hurt themselves, rehab may help temporarily. There is only one way out for people like me, long and sustained recovery. What does that mean, you may ask? The dedication we gave to drugs and alcohol must now be redirected. I now spend as much, if not more time on my recovery program as I did in my pursuit of drugs and alcohol. It is a full immersion into cleaning up the wreckage of my past. I now dedicate my time to others seeking a life of recovery and a 12-step program. I was a 27-year drug addict, I needed to be retaught how to live an honorable, principled life. I needed someone to show me how to get out of bed without drugs and alcohol. I have lost the right to drink and drug and I'm OK with that. I am not naive enough to think I can stay clean and sober without a life in recovery. I am an addict down to my DNA, if I stop recovery I will drink and drug. A life in recovery, a 12-step program, helping others, attending meetings, and being accountable are what have replaced my drugs and alcohol. I was promised a way out early in recovery and I have gained not only a way out but a beautifully simple, clean, and sober life. It is here waiting for anyone who wants it, that's a promise.
