Book Description
Angela Hogan is a pilot. A good pilot, and one of the few female flying aces of the 1930s. Struggling to make a living while the Great Depression rages, Angela has no problem running a small business and competing with men who believe a woman’s place is in the home. She has a plan to bring in business. All she needs to do is break the record for flying from Newfoundland to Havana, and that’s exactly what she plans to do. But when a competing air freight company threatens her livelihood, Angela has no choice but to hire a hotshot pilot with a reputation for setting records in the air and being a lady’s man on the ground. Jack Clancy doesn’t like bossy women. He prefers blondes with more beauty than brains, but he takes the job at Hogan Air Freight in order to save enough money to ship his own plane back to the States and get it the repairs it needs. He tries to tell himself that’s the only reason, even as he is drawn inexplicably to Angela Hogan. The female pilot and her determined attitude bother Jack, but that doesn’t stop him from fantasizing about what lies beneath that prim and proper exterior, even as she squares off to fight him at every turn. Soon Jack and Angela’s shared passion for flying turns into a passion for one another. But Jack has no intention of becoming tied to a woman like Angela and having his wings clipped. And Angela has no intention of leaving the flying to the men so she can become a homemaker. She intends to finish what she started and break the record for the flight she had planned, even when it turns out that the record she’s breaking belongs to Jack Clancy.

Book Description
When I was yet a very young woman I threw my heart away. Ever since then I have lived heartless, or almost heartless, the way Humans think all Fey live. Among the towering trees of magical Avalon, where humans dare not tread, lives Niviene, daughter of the Lady of the Lake. Her people, the Fey, are folk of the wood and avoid the violence and greed of man. But the strife of King Arthur's realm threatens even the peace of Avalon. And while Merlin the mage has been training Niviene as his apprentice, he now needs her help to thwart the chaos devouring Camelot. Niviene's special talents must help save a kingdom and discover the treachery of men and the beauty of love... "The story glows...a mythical tapestry that is at once completely recognizable yet utterly fresh..." —Publishers Weekly "Like The Mists of Avalon, the Arthurian legend from a woman's point of view." —USA Today "Readers will be enchanted...the characters and strands of the famous legend are skillfully woven together here." —School Library Journal "Take heed: the feminist possibilities of the Arthurian legendary cycle were not exhausted by Marion Zimmer Bradley's bestselling The Mists of Avalon... A riveting good read." —Booklist What readers are saying: "A rather unique look at the legend of King Arthur." "An exquisite addition to Arthurian literature." "The writing is lyrical; the plot twists are original. Great!"

Book Description
In a mining town in the backwoods of the High Sierras, Daisy James prays for a miracle. This 10-year-old girl is concerned because people in her town are hurting. And the one who seems to be hurting the most is her own mother, who lost a baby a year earlier. Daisy is filled with sorrow inside because her mother, who used to sing and laugh and talk about God, no longer does any of those things. Now she spends her days silent and resigned. So the little girl decides what her town needs is a church, to touch their hearts and spirits, to remind them that God is there, and that His angels are watching over them all. Daisy dreams up a play entitled Come, My Little Angel, and recruits her classmates to play the roles and her beloved music teacher to provide the music. Despite the obstacles working against her, Daisy perseveres, even when her own faith is shaken, until she finds herself face to face with a miracle -straight from the hand of a God who longs to restore us to joy and singing. And when, at the end of the book, you see what God does for this little girl - and for the mother she loves so deeply - you come away knowing nothing - not one single thing - is impossible with God. Book Description
This book provides the first comprehensive, historically based, philosophical interpretations of two texts of Thomas Percival’s professional ethics in medicine set in the context of his intellectual biography. Preceded by his privately published and circulated Medical Jurisprudence of 1794, Thomas Percival (1740-1804) published Medical Ethics in 1803, the first book thus titled in the global histories of medicine and medical ethics. From his days as a student at the Warrington Academy and the medical schools of the universities of Edinburgh and Leyden, Percival steeped himself in the scientific method of Francis Bacon (1561-1626). McCullough shows how Percival became a Baconian moral scientist committed to Baconian deism and Dissent. Percival also drew on and significantly expanded the work of his predecessor in professional ethics in medicine, John Gregory (1724-1773). The result is that Percival should be credited with co-inventing professionalism in medicine with Gregory. To aid and encourage future scholarship, this book brings together the first time three essential Percival texts, Medical Jurisprudence, Medical Ethics, and Extracts from the Medical Ethics of Dr. Percival of 1823, the bridge from Medical Ethics to the 1847 Code of Medical Ethics on the American Medical Association. To support comparative reading, this book provides concordances of Medical Jurisprudence to Medical Ethics and of Medical Ethics to Extracts. Finally, this book includes the first Chronology of Percival’s life and works.
