Luther Owens (1910-1984) was the second child of James Alderson Owens (b.1889) and Elizabeth Sutherland of Prater, Buchanan Co., Virginia. He married Velva Dare Taylor (b.1912), the daughter of William Jackson Taylor and Emma Curtis Sutherland of Tenso, Dickenson Co., VA.
