Book Description
Together, the six authors in this anthology paint a diverse and multivocal portrait of gay male aging, gay history, and gay culture. Through a collection of poems, prose, and essays, these men examine and narrate the experience of being an older gay male in the new millenium. As members of Chicagos gay community, the words of Allen Brown, Ralph Conrad, Randy Gresham, Joe Kenney, Tom Stabnicki and Dion Walton offer layered, heartbreaking, and humorous perspectives on the meaning of gay and gray in the year 2010. The collection is edited by Dustin Bradley Goltz, PhD, Assistant Professor at DePaul University, whose research explores the gay youth obsession and the discursive production of gay male future in contemporary popular culture. From activism and loss, to relationships and hope, this edited anthology works to both preserve and pass on their legacies to gay cultures of the present, of gay cultures now past, and for the ones that are yet to be. The writers and artists, Allen Brown, Ralph Conrad, Randy Gresham, Joe Kenney, Tom Stabnicki and Dion Walton, each live in Chicago and are members of The Center on Halsteds SAGE Program. Dustin Bradley Goltz, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Performance Studies and Rhetoric at DePaul University in Chicago, in The College of Communication. This book was published though the support of DePaul Universitys College of Communication.

Book Description
There is virtually nowhere on earth that remains untouched by plastics and the situation presents a serious threat to our natural world. Despite the magnitude of the problem, the interventions most often put in place are consumer-led and market-based and only nominally capable of addressing the issue. As the problem worsens and neoliberal ideologies limit the world’s responses to this crisis, there is a growing need for legislative frameworks that attend to the complex social and ecological issues associated with plastics. The contributors to this volume bring expertise from across academic disciplines to illustrate how plastics are produced, consumed, and discarded and to find holistic and integrated approaches that demonstrate an understanding of the wide-ranging problem. From the plasticization of earth’s oceans to the endocrine disrupting chemicals that have the potential to seriously harm life as we know it, these essays beg the question that we all must answer: what is our plastic legacy? With contributions by: Imogen E. Napper, Sabine Pahl, Richard C. Thompson, Sasha Adkins, Stephanie B. Borrelle, Jennifer Provencher, Tina Ngata, Sven Bergmann, Christina Gerhardt, Elyse Stanes, Tridibesh Dey, Mike Michael, Laura McLauchlan, Johanne Tarpgaard, Deirdre McKay, Padmapani Perez, Lei Xiaoyu, and John Holland.

Book Description
Its been said when we remember people who come in and out of our lives, we dont remember what they said or didnt say. We wont remember what they did and didnt do. What we do remember, is how they made us feel. And thats their legacy. In Legacies under Construction, author Cyndy Stevenson tells us how we can all create our own positive and lasting legacies. Stevenson discusses how legacy is a sum of how we have lived, loved, and learned. Its a reflection of all of the choices we have made, combined with the responsibility we took for those choices. Our legacy is where who we really are comes home. Legacies under Construction teaches that our legacy doesnt begin when we leave or die. It begins right where we are, in this moment. Stressing the importance of living toward a greater purpose, Stevenson shares information about the significance of integrity, making good choices, and setting goals that drive those choices, leading to a positive impact.

Book Description
Learning Legacies explores the history of cross-cultural teaching approaches, to highlight how women writer-educators used stories about their collaborations to promote community-building. Robbins demonstrates how educators used stories that resisted dominant conventions and expectations about learners to navigate cultural differences. Using case studies of educational initiatives on behalf of African American women, Native American children, and the urban poor, Learning Legacies promotes the importance of knowledge grounded in the histories and cultures of the many racial and ethnic groups that have always comprised America’s populace, underscoring the value of rich cultural knowledge in pedagogy by illustrating how creative teachers still draw on these learning legacies today.
