Book Description
The purpose of this project is to examine the cost and feasibility of using photovoltaic solar power to assist in the rebuilding of the Iraqi infrastructure. The project will examine available solar equipment and technologies coupled with requirements for operation, installation and maintenance of such systems. The report begins with an analysis of the current state of the Iraqi infrastructure with special emphasis placed on identifying potential candidates for initial solar PV system installation. Next, the report addresses available commercial solar equipment and emerging technologies that enhance such systems. This section will address areas including installation, operation, maintenance, and durability. Finally, the report will conclude with a cost estimate for using solar PV systems in the rebuilding of Iraq. At the conclusion of the project, information will be available for decision makers to include as part of an operations order or to attach as an annex to an existing operations order.

Solar Chimney Power Plants: Numerical Investigations and Experimental Validation
Author: Haythem Nasraoui
Publisher: Bentham Science Publishers
ISBN: 9811461732
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 211
Book Description
Solar Chimney Power Plants: Numerical Investigations and Experimental Validation summarizes the effect of the geometrical parameters of a solar chimney on the airflow behavior inside a solar chimney power plant. Chapters in this experimental handbook are presented in two parts with the goal of equipping readers with the information necessary to study and determine key factors which affect the performance of the solar chimney power plant. In the first part, the authors present a simulation developed by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling software ANSYS Fluent to model the airflow. The adopted CFD models include k-ɛ turbulence model, the DO radiation model and the convection heat flux transfer model. These models have been validated with anterior experimental results. In the second part, the simulated models are then tested with alternate geometric configurations of the solar chimney power plant. The numerical studies allow readers to consider ways to expand on the design optimizing of the solar chimney when constructing a prototype. Geometrical parameters include the height, the diameter of the chimney and the dimensions of the solar collector and their effect on the temperature and air pressure is documented to validate models used for experimental simulations. The handbook also includes a study of an experimental prototype, constructed at ENIS. The researchers have gathered data on the environmental temperature, distribution of the temperature, air velocity and the power output generated by the turbine, the solar radiation and the gap of temperature in the collector of the prototype.

Generating Electricity Using Photovoltaic Solar Plants in Iraq
Author: Miqdam Tariq Chaichan
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319750313
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 217
Book Description
This book focuses on solar energy and its applications in Iraq and its neighboring countries. Iraq suffers from electricity shortages and faces many challenges to meet and overcome current and future increases in electrical demand. Although Iraq relies primarily on petroleum as an energy source, many scientists agree that the future of energy efficiency and safety will rely heavily on the implementation of green and renewable energies. This book is aimed at researchers, policymakers, and students and discusses how PV systems can be successfully implemented in order to reduce dependency on fossil fuel resources. Contains case studies and examples to enhance practical application of the technologies presented; Presents actual adopted Iraqi PV projects; Explains the use and application of photovoltaic cells.

Reorganising the Air Force for Future Operations
Author: A K Tiwari
Publisher: Vij Books India Pvt Ltd
ISBN: 9381411727
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 175
Book Description
This is an era of exponential growth especially in technologies. Air Forces are the most technology intensive fighting arms. An ideal Air Force would constantly embrace and adopt new technologies to retain it's cutting edge and all dominant status in battle space. Failure to do so may spell it's doom when faced with more current Air Force. Along with new technology there is a need to reorganise many aspects in the organisation. These include, but are not limited to, command and control setup, inter-service integration, HR function, organisational culture and attitude etc etc. This study focuses on the reorganisation already due and suggests ideas for the future.
