Book Description
Excerpt from The Groves, and Lappan (Monaghan County, Ireland): An Account of a Pilgrimage Thither, in Search of the Genealogy of the Williams Family It is not, strictly, a genealogy, and I do not call it such, for it is far from being complete, as I have been able to bring it down only to the seventh generation. But it has material which some one, in the future, with the requisite leisure and means, can weave into a complete history of the family, such as will do the latter a credit. These are sim ply preliminary notes, which I print in this shape, to save the labor of answering the numerous let ters I have received, asking about the results of my researches in the old country. I offer them merely for what they are worth. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from Historical Sketches of Monaghan: From the Earliest Records to the Fenian Movement The following pages are a collection of essays and papers, written from time to time by the Author, under the following circumstances: - In the winter of 1891, the Rev. Father George M'Meel, then Administrator of Monaghan, urged on the members of the Monasjhan Parish Branch of the Irish National Federation, of which he was President, to get up some literary entertainment with which to conclude the meetings, after the usual social and political business had been disposed of. The chapter, "Old Monaghan," in this book, was the first step taken at the branch towards carrying out Father M'Meel's suggestion. Most of the other papers were read at intervals before the Branch, and a few of them have already appeared in the Peoples Advocate and the Weekly Freeman. When many of these pages had been read, the late Most Rev. Dr. Donnelly, Lord Bishop of Clogher, spoke to the writer about the propriety of writing a history of the town of Monaghan. We are all on the journey. The hero's journey is for everyone, and we are the hero in our own story. Being on the journey is the most human thing we can do – humanity will cease to grow or evolve if we follow the status quo. We live in a world of social media, hyper-connectedness, and convenience, but we are becoming less human the further down the path we go. Stepping into our own journey and finding the guidance and lessons to grow as a person is our destiny. Along the path, we find our mentors and face our trials. We are distracted, and we fail – we are human, after all. In the chaos, we eventually find the balance required to grow. This is a book about facing demons and meeting mages. The Shepherd and the Beast is about the universal truth that binds us, we are all the same, just on different parts of the same mythological journey. Tramayne Monaghan went on a journey of heroic proportions, learning how to be a leader from the best and learning lessons from the trials of beasts. Being thrust into leadership positions at a young age, these are the real-life lessons learnt and the steps the reader can take to absorb them. This is the story of a man trying to find meaning in leading others. This is a story of becoming a leader while discovering the shepherd and the beast ...
