Book Description
Opposites burn hot enough to melt the snow and ice of an Alaskan winter in this all-new series from USA Today bestselling author Megan Crane. Quinn Fortune is the official protector of all the unspoiled beauty in Lost Lake, Alaska, as the head of the community trust. A rugged frontiersman through and through, he doesn't do soft. But he can't help his fascination with the pink-clad professor who shows up in Lost Lake seeking his approval for her cheerful outsider’s proposal about land that isn’t hers. Still, he agrees to consider it—if she can handle a month of good old-fashioned Alaska living. He’s betting she’ll head back to the safety of the Lower 48 within the week. Violet Parrish is a thinker, not a doer, but desperate times call for extraordinary measures—like taking on the Alaskan wilderness. In January. Off the grid. With a mountain man hot enough to melt a glacier. The frozen Alaskan tundra should be no match for Violet’s determination, but the sheer immensity of the Last Frontier takes her by surprise—as does her attraction to gruff, impossibly handsome Quinn, and the unexpected heat that burns between them during the freezing Alaska nights…

Book Description
When twenty-year-old Bert Ray Libe read “Men wanted for Alaska to build a railroad—apply 526 Jackson Street” on a signboard in San Francisco one July morning in 1905, he immediately envisioned hunting adventures and gold-seeking opportunities in the rugged land of the north. The next morning his adventurous soul was infused with excitement as he boarded the SS Valencia bound for Seward, Alaska, accompanied by over four hundred other men, a woman dressed as a man, and a teenage boy. Bert was soon given the moniker, Fuzzy, by his shipmates because of his unruly hair. In a fascinating retelling of Bert’s adventures, Jzonay Reitz invites others to witness the breathtaking beauty of Alaska through Fuzzy’s eyes as he hunts in the pristine Kenai Mountains and traverses the Matanuska and Susitna Valleys of Southcentral Alaska, then ventures across snow-covered benches of Denali (Mt. McKinley) with four dogs and a sled and returns in the spring to search for gold in the glacial tributaries. Interspersed throughout his stories are an abundance of historical facts and revealing photographs. A Quest for Adventure is an inspiring and engaging memoir, brimming with energy and personality, and laced with humor even during challenging circumstances. KIRKUS REVIEW "A historically satisfying...memoir. Reitz intersperses occasional historical photographs and notes...particularly helpful in guiding the reader through her uncle's portrayals of Alaskan life, as in her detailed description of the lay of the land in the town of Seward in 1905...'Home Brew Alley'...'Millionaire's Row'..." ~Kirkus Indie - a review service from Kirkus Reviews

Book Description
Experiences of Gold Hunters in Alaska is a classic account of the Valdez-Copper River phase of the great Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 and a topnotch narrative of a real-life Alaskan adventure. Unlike most written histories of that gold rush that tell of the passage to Dyea or Skagway, over the Chilkoot Pass and White Pass, and down to the Klondike fields in Yukon, Charles Margeson tells the story that he and 3500 other gold seekers experienced as they traversed the Valdez Glacier and descended the Klutina River to the Copper River. The author describes his journey beginning in Missouri in 1897 and resulted in a trip from Seattle to Alaska and back to Seattle in 1898. The book covers the early story of Valdez and the hazards encountered in the Tonsena (now Tonsina) Valley. Although they discovered little gold, their quest made a difference for their efforts resulted in the exploration and development of much of Southcentral and Interior Alaska. They established the port city of Valdez which was to become the major transportation and shipping corridor from interior to coastal Alaska--a corridor now more famous for its black than yellow gold.
