Book Description
This book covers a collection of twenty seven short stories. They were inspired by real characters and true experiences of the writer and several of his friends and acquaintances. Some stories have included imaginary details and do not necessarily refer to certain real characters even if parallels can be drawn. Other certain incidents including those related to history reflect facts and real happenings such as those concerning conflict and war in the region. Some incidents are related to the period of the Iraq-Iran war; others are related to the times of the invasion of Iraq in 2003 by the US and Allied forces. On the other hand, there are also stories with different touches such as those of The Lover, Scenes from Baghdad, Louises Family and Gamblers. They reflect various environments and characteristics of persons pursuing their dreams and practices through their daily lives during peaceful times in cities like Baghdad and London. Human Dreams is the title of one of the stories. However, many of the stories and characters behaviours in the book, and in real life, are generally influenced by the dreams and ideas of real men and women ending up pursuing such dreams trying to achieve certain goals in their lives with chances of success or failure. A view can be reflected through the following quotation from the story of Human Dreams: The big question remains: Is the end fast and tragic for most good people or dreamers? Do evil persons come out victorious and achieve what they wish in most cases? Or is there something else, and that Justice of Heaven takes its course even after some time, and that Good prevails over Evil in the end? Maybe the whole matter doesnt need all such questions and that it was merely the life of a man and a woman who each lived his human dreams his or her own way.

Book Description
A young Indian woman searches for her own identity as her country fights for independence in this novel from the award-winning Urdu Indian author. The Crooked Line is the story of Shamman, a spirited young woman who rebels against the traditional Indian life of purdah, or female seclusion, that she and her sisters are raised in. Shipped off to boarding school by her family, Shamman grows into a woman of education and independence just as India itself is fighting to throw off the shackles of colonialism. Shamman’s search for her own path leads her into the fray of political unrest, where her passion for her country’s independence becomes entangled with her passion for an Irish journalist. In this semi-autobiographical novel, Ismat Chughtai explores the complex relationships between women caught in a changing culture, and exposes the intellectual and emotional conflicts at the heart of India’s battle for an uncertain future of independence from the British Raj and ultimately Partition.

Book Description
Mission Joy is high octane middle-grade adventure full of comedy and heart. Perfect for readers aged 8+ and fans of David Walliams and The Last Kids on Earth. Jesse Joy is a twelve year old that never smiles. Why would he? School is seriously boring. People won’t stop telling him what to do. And he is the poorest kid in class. And just when Jesse thinks things can’t get any worse, his dad gets kidnapped. A mysterious family friend tells Jesse that to save his dad he needs the help of Frankenstein, Dracula and Cinderella. It shouldn’t be too hard. First, he needs to break into the British Library and steal one of its most prized possessions. Then he has to survive a trip to Paris on top of a bullet train. Then he has to jump off a moving rollercoaster into a magical book in Abu Dhabi. Then, and only then, he can finally begin his rescue mission. Can Jesse pull it off? Will he save his father before it’s too late? And will he ever find a reason to smile? WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT MISSION JOY ‘OMG, such a funny book! I laughed so hard I broke a rib! ... The rib punctured my liver. Srsly. They took me to a hospital.’ - William Shakespeare ‘This book is not sad enough. Where is all the pain, the suffering? What is this?’ – Fyodor Dostoevsky ‘Cracking good read!’ - Humpty Dumpty ‘A triumph! It’s the new Harry Potter, only without wands, brooms, spells, a magical school, a boy wizard or wizardry of any kind.’ - Unicyclist Weekly ‘Hugely entertaining. If you like adventure, chases, explosions, comedy then this one is for you. If you don’t like those things then it’s not.’ - Miniature Donkey Digest ‘A modern-day Tom Sawyer with a healthy dash of David Walliams’ - Marketing Department ‘Mission Joy is an absolute masterpiece in my completely unbiased opinion for which I didn’t not receive a small thank you gift from the publisher.’ - Tom Pinocchio, author of Encyclopaedia of Lying ‘This book has a great amount of words. Great words. So very great.’ - Former president of the United States ‘You need to buy this book! Go! Drop everything now! (Unless you are holding a baby.)’ - Negligence Illustrated ‘This is the greatest book in the world, besides mine’ - New York Times bestselling author ‘Unputdownable. I stopped eating, drinking, bathing, breathing. I’m pretty sure there are insects living in my hair. I have a dead cat in my kitchen.’ - Jane Austen

Book Description
All the stories in this book are plays of fiction that have been built on the edifice of reality. Life is a story of triumphs and falls, trumps and junks, pain and pleasure, acceptance and rejection, and things like that. These are the two faces of a coin. One doesn’t exist in seclusion from the other. The class is the same, the room is the same, the books are the same, and the teacher is the same, yet one fails and the other tops. The moral of each story is the same. If you are climbing a steep hill or running on the plains, one thing or another is bound to happen. Never give up. Continue to run. Success will not elude you for long.
