Book Description
Industrial, financial, commercial or any kinds of project have at least one common feature: the better organized they are, the higher the profit or the lower the cost. Project management is the principle of planning different projects and keeping them on track within time, cost and resource constraints. The need for effective project management is ever-increasing. The complexity of the environment we live in requires more sophisticated methods than it did just a couple of decades ago. Project managers might face insurmountable obstacles in their work if they do not adapt themselves to the changing circumstances. On the other hand, better knowledge of project management can result in better plans, schedules and, last but not least, more contracts and more profit. This knowledge can help individuals and firms to stay alive in this competitive market and, in the global sense, utilize the finite resources of our planet in a more efficient way.

Book Description
With extensive case studies for illustration, this is a practitioner's guide to an entirely new production system for construction management using flowline scheduling. Covering the entire process of presenting a comprehensive management system – from design, through measurement, scheduling, and visualization and control – its emphasis is on reducing cost and increasing quality. Drawing its components together into a management system, the authors not only include theory and explanations of how and why it works, but also examine and present a suite of methods for successful project implementation. Perfect as a how-to guide for researchers and advanced construction students to discover the simple application of the new techniques, and invaluable for acquiring the practical tools for planning and controlling projects.

Book Description
Practice Standard for Scheduling—Third Edition provides the latest thinking regarding good and accepted practices in the area of scheduling for a project. This updated practice standard expounds on the information contained in Section 6 on Project Schedule Management of the PMBOK® Guide. In this new edition, you will learn to identify the elements of a good schedule model, its purpose, use, and benefits. You will also discover what is required to produce and maintain a good schedule model. Also included: a definition of schedule model; uses and benefits of the schedule model; definitions of key terms and steps for scheduling; detailed descriptions of scheduling components; guidance on the principles and concepts of schedule model creation and use; descriptions of schedule model principles and concepts; uses and applications of adaptive project management approaches, such as agile, in scheduling; guidance and information on generally accepted good practices; and more.

Book Description
The principal theme of this book is combinatorial scheduling. All coverage is confined to deterministic results and includes conventional models involving single and multiple processors as well as ones of the classic flow and job shop-like variety. In addition, the book discusses workforce staffing models, timetabling problems, the classroom assignment model, and even problems related to traversals in graphs. The author has included understandable descriptions of computational algorithms, demonstrations of algorithms and theorems with sample problems, and substantial lists of end-of-chapter exercises which span from relatively routine manipulation to increasingly challenging, possibly even open problems. An entire chapter is included on background material. Covered are basic concepts in computational complexity, the theory of graphs, and partial enumeration. The book should appeal to students and researchers in a host of areas including industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, and discrete mathematics.

Book Description
This book has an objective and a focus. It provides the reader with: • an in-depth acquaintance with the theory of the firm developed by Erich Gutenberg • an insight into a coherent body of current German research in the theory of the firm. The book is divided into two parts. The first part lays the foundations. It presents Gutenberg's theory of the firm to the English speaking reader. Considering the great importance that Erich Gutenberg has had in Germany and taking into consideration the impact that the translations of his path-breaking three volumes "Principles of Management" have had in France, the Spanish speaking countries, and in Japan, it was felt that it was necessary, on the occasion of his tOOth anniversary, to present a concise summary of his contributions to the theory of the firm to an English speaking scientific community. Six papers present Gutenberg's theory in the light of the theoretical advances that he stimulated as well as in the framework of other theoretical developments like capital market theory, transaction cost theory, principal agent theory, and contract theory. The papers show that Gutenberg's theory is highly relevant for theory and highly influential in the practice of management.
