Book Description
The ever increasing demand for high data storage capacity compels the two-photon (2P) excitation based three-dimensional (3D) bit by bit optical data storage system, where the information is recorded as a localized physical or chemical change inside the volume of recording media. Even though the highly confined property of 2P induced optical data storage has led to a higher recording density, it can only reach a theoretical density up to a few Terabytes per disc, which is far below the requirement for the next generation of information storage devices. This book introduces the emerging field of multi-dimensional optical data storage by using the forefront of nanophotonic techniques, which has the potential to revolutionize the information storage and has no theoretical limitation of storage density by employing the physical dimensions of writing beams.

Book Description
This book presents principles and applications to expand the storage space from 2-D to 3-D and even multi-D, including gray scale, color (light with different wavelength), polarization and coherence of light. These actualize the improvements of density, capacity and data transfer rate for optical data storage. Moreover, the applied implementation technologies to make mass data storage devices are described systematically. Some new mediums, which have linear absorption characteristics for different wavelength and intensity to light with high sensitivity, are introduced for multi-wavelength and multi-level optical storage. This book can serve as a useful reference for researchers, engineers, graduate and undergraduate students in material science, information science and optics.

Book Description
Nanomedicine is a rapidly expanding field because of its benefits over conventional drug delivery technology, as it offers site-specific and target-oriented delivery of therapeutic agents. Nanoparticles and Nanocarriers Based Pharmaceutical Preparations presents a structured summary of recent advances and discoveries in nanomedicine and nanocarrier-based drug delivery. The book covers several key topics in a very simple and easy to understand language. Readers will be familiarized with many types of nanocarriers that have been developed over the past decade, the pharmaceutical formulations composed of organic and inorganic materials as well as their clinical benefits. Chapters are written with the help of authoritative sources of knowledge with the goal of building a foundational understanding of novel drug delivery systems. Since the subject matter is interdisciplinary, it will be of interest to students, teachers and researchers in a broad range of fields, including pharmaceutical sciences, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering and material sciences.

Book Description
"Chromic phenomena, or those produced by materials which exhibit colour in response to a chemical or physical stimulus, have increasingly been at the heart of 'high-tec' developments in a variety of fields in the last decade. Many of the newer technologies, which are at the cutting edge of research, are multi-disciplinary, involving researchers from areas as diverse as physics, biology, materials science and electronic engineering. Chromic Phenomena covers five main areas: * Colour change materials, such as photochromic, thermochromic and electrochromic materials * Materials which absorb and reflect light - the classical dyes and pigments * Luminescent phenomena, including phosphorescence, fluorescence and electroluminescence * Materials which absorb light and transfer energy, eg photosensitisers, infra-red absorbers and laser-addressable compounds * Phenomena involving the manipulation of light by chemicals, such as liquid crystals, lustre pigments, optoelectronics and photonics Providing an entry point both for new researchers and for established ones, this book, with its emphasis on the technological applications of these chromic phenomena, develops and investigates new applications for colour chemistry. It will be of interest to industrialists and professionals in the biological, medicinal, electronics/telecommunications and colorant industries, as well as academics in these fields."

Book Description
Magnetic nanoparticles appear naturally in rock magnetism together with a large distribution of sizes and shapes. They have numerous applications from nano-size magnetic memories to metamaterials for electromagnetic waves as well as biological applications such as nanosurgery with minimal traumatism. Their long-ranged size- and shape-dependent dipolar interactions provide numerous useful properties. This book describes the preparation as well as the magnetic properties of nanoparticles and also considers 2D dots, nearly spherical samples, elongated samples, and various assemblies of nanoparticles. The authors report the static magnetic structures and dynamic properties of these nanoparticles and the topological defects in 2D and 3D nanoparticles with new examples of S-shaped vortex or antivortex and of bent vortex or antivortex in 3D nanoparticles. The spectrum of magnetic excitations is shown to exhibit the occurrence of gaps, a key for magnonic metamaterial devices. Magnetic excited states are also considered with their coupling to nanoparticle elastic properties.
