Book Description
This autobiography is about a characters transition from a curious child, to an evil adolescent into a highly self-secure spiritual man. As a child he loves and is very close to his grandmother, whom although poor, she's always happy, very spiritual and the only real example of anyone being close to God. He loves to sit down with her and listen curiously as she discribes the beauty of heaven, aswell as reads and explaines, the at times grim prophecies of the bible. Still to young to understand, he would remain a confused and bitter unbeliever, due to all the pain and suffering that surrounded him on a daily basis. He's a child growing up in a very tough racially divided community, who never looks for trouble but trouble always finds him. At first he could care less and isn't impressed by the hoods in the fast life. But on the surface, compared to his mother and any hard working individual, it was the hoods that had it all. So by the time he'd become an adolescent, he's tired of being poor, any good he had left in him has faded and he vows to do whatever it takes to get ahead even if he has to kill! In the process he prays to the devil, makes an abundance of money, gains power and attains an unbelievable amount of notoriety. He'd become almost uncontrollable to the point, where he's very aware but dosn't care, that he only has two stops left, life in prison or eternal death in hell! Untill one fateful day when he's made to think about his only son, after a crime he'd commited that could have hurt or even killed an enemies innocent kids and thus began his road to repentance.

Book Description
A candid, savvy, inspiring, and often hilarious memoir by one of America’s most fearless political leaders. Beloved by the immigrants and working people whose rights he has championed, twelve-term Congressman Luis Gutierrez is, among Latinos and along with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the most recognized Hispanic public figure in America. Here Gutierrez recounts his life between two worlds: too Puerto Rican in America, where he was born and yet was told to "go back to where you came from"; too American in Puerto Rico, where he was ridiculed as a "gringo" who couldn’t speak Spanish. For much of his early life, he seemed like the last person who would rise to national prominence. Yet his tremendous will and resilience shaped his varied experiences—from picking coffee beans to driving a cab—into one of the most surprising careers in American politics. He campaigned for Chicago’s first black mayor, Harold Washington. Someone threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of his house, and he only grew more committed to reform. Tested in the crucible of the notoriously tough Chicago city council, he earned the nickname "El Gallito": the little fighting rooster. Gutierrez was one of the first Latino public figures to support gay rights; he led the fight to cut Congressional paychecks, hashed out legislation with both Ted Kennedy and John McCain, and fought with Newt Gingrich and George W. Bush. Despite his strong support for Barack Obama in two elections, he was arrested twice while protesting for immigrants in front of the Obama White House. From recollections of his failures as a teenage activist to his crackling observations of the nautical décor in Kennedy’s office and the white-gloved waiters of the Speaker’s dining room, Gutierrez is as endearing to the reader as he is sometimes maddening to his colleagues, inspiring us all to stand up for our rights and for those of others.

Book Description
My Friend You is a true story chronicling a young Afro-American man's four-year tour of duty in the marine corps during the Vietnam War era. The book contains its share of wartime drama, but upon reading further, it doesn't take you long to realize this book is not a typical Vietnam War story, but, instead, it tells about the love and devotion the young marine has for two orphaned children he met in mid-July of 1965""when he was flying as a volunteer crewman aboard a marine medevac helicopter and was dispatched to rescue a party of seventeen children. During the rescue, the young marine was awkwardly introduced to a pretty orphaned ten-year-old girl Kim and her protective teenage brother, Lanh. The three quickly bonded, and their interactions inexplicably triggered the marine's paternal senses to befriend them both, thus, changing his life forever. Some fifty-two years have passed since I promised those kids I would tell the world about their story, and I plan to do just that, God willing.
