Book Description
This book is partially a continuation of my previous book, "New Ideas for a New Era". In this book some of the ideas that were introduced in the previous book are expanded. An example of this is an expanded version of the new relativistic theory based on Newton's second law for motion and how and why it is superior to Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. Besides this, other ideas that were simply presented, without any proof in the previous book, a mathematical proof is given to show their correctness. An example of this is the mathematical proof for the equivalency of Dark Matter and Dark Energy with the consequence that if gravity exists then anti-gravity, mathematically, must also exist. The paper on a mathematical theory of the nervous system applies the new set theory introduced in the previous book. Aside from these, there are other papers that are completely new. Examples of these include the paper on the nature of Tachyon, the non-equivalence of inertial and gravitational mass of an object, with one of the consequences being that a photon can have zero inertial mass but non-zero gravitational mass. This will provide an explanation for the bending of light due to gravity without the need for the warping of the space-time continuum. I hope the reader will find these papers to be a quantum leap forward in our understanding of our Universe.

Her romance with Patrick Piasso culminated in her marriage with him. Soon after, she faced a daunting task of balancing her professional endeavors with her family life. Patrick found it difficult to resist the overtures of another attractive woman during this turbulent period in their young married life. With each patient encounter, Siobhan learned the lessons of actual art of practicing medicine which she could never have acquired in the class rooms of her medical school. She realized that 'one-size-fits-all' approach did not work when she was confronting patients with different background and diverse mental make-up. She would have to modify her healing potion depending on each individual patient's preferences and prejudices. With every interaction, she strove to become a better physician. Then one day, she got news of advanced cancer of Molly. Did she fall apart? "MUSINGS OF S.M." describes her struggle to handle this devastating blow which befell her soon after Patrick has left her.

Book Description
Katrina Firlik is a neurosurgeon, one of only two hundred or so women among the alpha males who dominate this high-pressure, high-prestige medical specialty. She is also a superbly gifted writer–witty, insightful, at once deeply humane and refreshingly wry. In Another Day in the Frontal Lobe, Dr. Firlik draws on this rare combination to create a neurosurgeon’s Kitchen Confidential–a unique insider’s memoir of a fascinating profession. Neurosurgeons are renowned for their big egos and aggressive self-confidence, and Dr. Firlik confirms that timidity is indeed rare in the field. “They’re the kids who never lost at musical chairs,” she writes. A brain surgeon is not only a highly trained scientist and clinician but also a mechanic who of necessity develops an intimate, hands-on familiarity with the gray matter inside our skulls. It’s the balance between cutting-edge medical technology and manual dexterity, between instinct and expertise, that Firlik finds so appealing–and so difficult to master. Firlik recounts how her background as a surgeon’s daughter with a strong stomach and a keen interest in the brain led her to this rarefied specialty, and she describes her challenging, atypical trek from medical student to fully qualified surgeon. Among Firlik’s more memorable cases: a young roofer who walked into the hospital with a three-inch-long barbed nail driven into his forehead, the result of an accident with his partner’s nail gun, and a sweet little seven-year-old boy whose untreated earache had become a raging, potentially fatal infection of the brain lining. From OR theatrics to thorny ethical questions, from the surprisingly primitive tools in a neurosurgeon’s kit to glimpses of future techniques like the “brain lift,” Firlik cracks open medicine’s most prestigious and secretive specialty. Candid, smart, clear-eyed, and unfailingly engaging, Another Day in the Frontal Lobe is a mesmerizing behind-the-scenes glimpse into a world of incredible competition and incalculable rewards.

Book Description
A perfect blend of medical drama and spiritual insight, Gray Matter is a fascinating account of Dr. David Levy’s decision to begin asking his patients if he could pray for them before surgery. Some are thrilled. Some are skeptical. Some are hostile, and some are quite literally transformed by the request. Each chapter focuses on a specific case, opening with a detailed description of the patient’s diagnosis and the procedure that will need to be performed, followed by the prayer “request.” From there, readers get to look over Dr. Levy’s shoulder as he performs the operation, and then we wait—right alongside Dr. Levy, the patients, and their families—to see the final results. Dr. Levy’s musings on what successful and unsuccessful surgical results imply about God, faith, and the power of prayer are honest and insightful. As we watch him come to his ultimate conclusion that no matter what the results of the procedure are, “God is good,” we cannot help but be truly moved and inspired.

Book Description
"Tell the doctor where it hurts." It sounds simple enough, unless the problem affects the very organ that produces awareness and generates speech. What is it like to try to heal the body when the mind is under attack? In this book, Reaching Down the Rabiit Hole, Dr. Allan H. Ropper and Brian David Burrell take the reader behind the scenes at Harvard Medical School's neurology unit to show how a seasoned diagnostician faces down bizarre, life-altering afflictions. Like Alice in Wonderland, Dr. Ropper inhabits a world where absurdities abound: • A figure skater whose body has become a ticking time-bomb • A salesman who drives around and around a traffic rotary, unable to get off • A college quarterback who can't stop calling the same play • A child molester who, after falling on the ice, is left with a brain that is very much dead inside a body that is very much alive • A mother of two young girls, diagnosed with ALS, who has to decide whether a life locked inside her own head is worth living How does one begin to treat such cases, to counsel people whose lives may be changed forever? How does one train the next generation of clinicians to deal with the moral and medical aspects of brain disease? Dr. Ropper and his colleague answer these questions by taking the reader into a rarified world where lives and minds hang in the balance.
