This book presents a reflection on the debate between cultural multiculturalism and interculturalism by reviewing the main sociological and philosophical approaches that mark it. It opens with reflections on liberalism and neo-communitarianism, from John Rawls to Charles Taylor, Jurgen Habermas and Will Kymlicka, and then delves into the multicultural model of integration, examining its theoretical foundations, internal differences and political applications. Multiculturalism is a prevalent worldwide societal phenomenon. Aspects of our modern life, such as migration, economic globalization, multicultural policies, and cross-border travel and communication have made intercultural contacts inevitable. Identity and Cultural Diversity examines immigration and its effect on diversity from a social psychological perspective. The problems related to the process of industrialisation such as biodiversity depletion, climate change and a worsening of health and living conditions, especially but not only in developing countries, intensify. Therefore, there is an increasing need to search for integrated solutions to make development more sustainable. The Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals comprehensively addresses the SDGs in an integrated way. It encompasses 17 volumes, each devoted to one of the 17 SDGs.
