L’utilisation de bétons de démolition, en tant que granulats recyclés dans de nouveaux bétons est une solution prometteuse, dans le contexte actuel de développement durable. Ce type de recyclage est toutefois encore très limité dans le secteur de la construction, par manque de connaissances. Cette thèse vise donc à fournir une meilleure compréhension de l’influence des granulats de béton recyclé dans le béton. Pour cette étude, des bétons de première génération ont été confectionnés avec des granulats naturels. Ces bétons ont ensuite été concassés pour être recyclés dans des bétons de seconde génération qui ont été concassés à leur tour, pour générer une troisième seérie de bétons. Lors de cette campagne, on a fait varier la résistance à la compression des bétons, la nature des granulats naturels et le taux de recyclage. L’utilisation d’agent réducteur de retrait et de superplastifiant a également été prospectée, dans le but d’améliorer les performances des bétons avec recyclés. Les fabrications et le concassage des bétons ont été réalisés à l’échelle semi-industrielle, mais dans des conditions très contrôlées, pour garantir la qualité et la traçabilité des matériaux étudiés. Les performances mécaniques, le retrait et la durabilité des bétons, ainsi qu’un grand nombre de propriétés d’usage des granulats ont été déterminées, pour chaque génération. Ces données représentent une base expérimentale très riche qui a été analysée et utilisée pour développer un ensemble de modèles semi-empiriques, permettant de relier les propriétés des bétons à celles des granulats recyclés qu’ils contiennent, mais aussi les propriétés des granulats recyclés à celles des bétons dont ils sont issus. Ces modèles mettent en évidence un certains nombre de caractéristiques importantes des granulats recyclés. Ils ont également été utilisés à titre prospectif, pour évaluer le multi-recyclage. L’ensemble des connaissances produites a été confronté à un cas réel de recyclage consistant à renouveler une aire aéroportuaire par une dalle de béton ne contenant que des granulats issus du recyclage des anciennes dalles. Cette thèse a été menée dans le cadre d’une convention CIFRE cofinancée par l’ATILH, CIMBETON, le SNBPE, le SPECBEA et l’UNPG en partenariat avec ADP.
