Book Description
It was with the publication of Norbert Wiener's book ''The Fourier In tegral and Certain of Its Applications" [165] in 1933 by Cambridge Univer sity Press that the mathematical community came to realize that there is an alternative approach to the study of c1assical Fourier Analysis, namely, through the theory of c1assical orthogonal polynomials. Little would he know at that time that this little idea of his would help usher in a new and exiting branch of c1assical analysis called q-Fourier Analysis. Attempts at finding q-analogs of Fourier and other related transforms were made by other authors, but it took the mathematical insight and instincts of none other then Richard Askey, the grand master of Special Functions and Orthogonal Polynomials, to see the natural connection between orthogonal polynomials and a systematic theory of q-Fourier Analysis. The paper that he wrote in 1993 with N. M. Atakishiyev and S. K Suslov, entitled "An Analog of the Fourier Transform for a q-Harmonic Oscillator" [13], was probably the first significant publication in this area. The Poisson k~rnel for the contin uous q-Hermite polynomials plays a role of the q-exponential function for the analog of the Fourier integral under considerationj see also [14] for an extension of the q-Fourier transform to the general case of Askey-Wilson polynomials. (Another important ingredient of the q-Fourier Analysis, that deserves thorough investigation, is the theory of q-Fourier series.

Book Description
This innovative book discusses and applies the generalized Fourier Series to a variety of problems commonly encountered within science and engineering, equipping the readers with a clear pathway through which to use the Fourier methods as a solution technique for a wide range of differential equations and boundary value problems. Beginning with an overview of the conventional Fourier series theory, this book introduces the generalized Fourier series (GFS), emphasizing its notable rate of convergence when compared to the conventional Fourier series expansions. After systematically presenting the GFS as a powerful and unified solution method for ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations, this book expands on some representative boundary value problems, diving into their multiscale characteristics. This book will provide readers with the comprehensive foundation necessary for solving a wide spectrum of mathematical problems key to practical applications. It will also be of interest to researchers, engineers, and college students in various science, engineering, and mathematics fields.

Book Description
The main theme of this book is recent progress in structure-preserving algorithms for solving initial value problems of oscillatory differential equations arising in a variety of research areas, such as astronomy, theoretical physics, electronics, quantum mechanics and engineering. It systematically describes the latest advances in the development of structure-preserving integrators for oscillatory differential equations, such as structure-preserving exponential integrators, functionally fitted energy-preserving integrators, exponential Fourier collocation methods, trigonometric collocation methods, and symmetric and arbitrarily high-order time-stepping methods. Most of the material presented here is drawn from the recent literature. Theoretical analysis of the newly developed schemes shows their advantages in the context of structure preservation. All the new methods introduced in this book are proven to be highly effective compared with the well-known codes in the scientific literature. This book also addresses challenging problems at the forefront of modern numerical analysis and presents a wide range of modern tools and techniques.
