Excerpt from Minutes of the Fifty-Ninth Annual Session of the Liberty Baptist Association 1896 The Delegates composing the Fifty-Ninth Annua! Session of the Liberty Baptist Association convened with Locust Grove Church, Madison County, Alabama, on Thursday before the 3rd Sabbath in September, 1896, at 10:00 a. m. Devotional services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Eaves, by reading 34th Psalms. The introductory sermon was preached by Rev. A. E. Burns, from a portion 14th Verse of 4th Chapter of Judges. "Up for this is the day in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand. Is not the Lord gone out before thee ?" Prayer by Rev. W. W. Harris. Recess at 12:30 p. m., to 2 p. m. Afternoon Session. The Association met at 2 p. m, and called to order by the Moderator, Dr. J. P. Hampton, for the transaction of business. Prayer by Rev.J. W. Hilliard. Perry Henderson at the Clerk's table. The Moderator appointed R. P. Whitman and H. M. Teague as Reading Clerks. The roll of churches was alphabetically called by the Moderator and the following Churches presented letters, and had their delegations enrolled as members of the Association: Beulah - J. W. Freeman, W. H. Eddins and Pink Norton. Bethel - E. J. Carlisle and G. W. Webster. Charity East - R. W. Moore and Sam Cagle. Charity West - J. W. Tanner. Dallas Avenue - R. E. Pettus, R. P.
