Accurate, transparent and verifiable wood supply calculations will inspire the public confidence that is vital to the future of the industry, forest communities and the ecological health of the forest. [...] The Task Force's terms of reference were sufficient in scope to allow a broad ranging examination of issues all the way from the forest to the manufacturing facility to the market. [...] The Department of Highways has formed a committee, which is tentatively being called the 'Weight Advisory Committee" to advise the Department on: 1. applications for changes to the proposed master plan for the future construction and up-grades of highways in Saskatchewan; and 2. the scheduling of the application of new money into those projects. [...] The experience of the forest industry is that the increased cost of complying with the program, together with the payment of 50% of any "savings" to the Department has resulted in only minor savings to industry and little interest in the program.
