Microgravity Vibration Isolation

Pages : 26
Book Description
In order to achieve adequate low-frequency vibration isolation for certain space experiments an active control is needed, due to inherent passive-isolator limitations. Proposed here are five possible state-space models for a one-dimensional vibration isolation system with a quadratic performance index. The five models are subsets of a general set of nonhomogeneous state space equations which includes disturbance terms. An optimal control is determined, using a differential equations approach, for this class of problems. This control is expressed in terms of constant, Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) feedback gains and constant feedforward (preview) gains. The gains can be easily determined numerically. They result in a robust controller and offers substantial improvements over a control that uses standard LQR feedback alone. Hampton, R. D. and Knospe, C. R. and Grodsinsky, C. M. and Allaire, P. E. and Lewis, D. W. Glenn Research Center ...

Active Control of Noise and Vibration
Author: Colin Hansen
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1482234009
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1564
Book Description
Integrating active control of both sound and vibration, this comprehensive two-volume set combines coverage of fundamental principles with the most recent theoretical and practical developments. The authors explain how to design and implement successful active control systems in practice and detail the pitfalls one must avoid to ensure a reliable and stable system. Extensively revised, updated, and expanded throughout, the second edition reflects the advances that have been made in algorithms, DSP hardware, and applications since the publication of the first edition.
