The study began in 1934. It was a cooperative undertaking of Yale University through the Institute of Human Relations and the department of pediatrics of the School of Medicine and of the Chil dren's Bureau of the United States Department of Labor, in coopera tion with the Department of Health and the Board of Education, New Haven, Conn.
