Book Description
The glamorous life of an international flight attendant can be anything but, as Vera Hanson discovered the morning one of her crew members was found murdered in a Paris hotel room. That morning began to put into focus some of the experiences of Vera's thirty year airline career, which she had purposely been avoiding. It caused her to look more deeply into the questions surrounding 9/11 that never made sense to a flight attendant, but that no one had seriously investigated. With the help of her pilot friend Jim Bowman, they embark on a cross country journey employing their wisdom, experience and intense research to uncover the mysteries of what really happened to the four airplanes and the people on them that fateful day. Written as a novel, Methodical Illusion has been excruciatingly researched from an insider's perspective, utilizing proprietary knowledge of airplanes, universal FAA protocols, standardized flight crew procedures and all hijacking policies. The results are the never before revealed answers to the daunting questions everyone has had, but few have dared ask aloud for fear of the repercussions that undoubtedly follow. Rebekah Roth is right on target with her mind blowing research which is guaranteed to open your eyes.

Book Description
One of the weaknesses of research in Africa is the little consideration that is given to questions of epistemology and methodology. What we see is the trivialization of research protocols which, consequently, are reduced to fantasy prescriptions that detach social studies from universal debates over the validity of science rather than an interrogation of research procedures induced by the complexity of social dynamics. As a result, social sciences have become an imitative discourse and a recital of exotic anecdotes without perspectives. Knowledge production therefore loses any heuristic bearing. It is on the basis of this reality that attempts to correct this tendency have been made in this book by discussing the methodological foundation of social science knowledge. This volume is a collection of papers presented during methodological workshops organized by CODESRIA. Its objective is to revitalize theory and methodology in field work in Africa while contributing to the creation of a critical space hinged upon the mastery of epistemological bases which are indispensable to any scientific imagination. Far from being a collection of technical certainties and certified methods, this book interrogates the uncertain itinerary of the process of social logics discovery. In that sense, it is a decisive step towards a critical systemization of ongoing theories and practices within the African scientific community. The reader can, therefore, identify the philosophical, historical, sociological and anthropological foundations of object construction, field data exploitation and research results delivery. This book explains the importance of the philosophical and social modalities of scientific practice, the influence of local historical contexts, the different usages of new investigative tools, including the audiovisual tools. Finally, the book, backed by classical theories, serves as an invitation toward considering scientific commitment to African field research from a reflective perspective.

Book Description
The pursuit of knowledge and understanding is as old as humanity itself. From the earliest philosophical inquiries of ancient civilizations to the methodical and structured research of today's modern society, the quest for knowledge has been a constant and driving force in the evolution of humankind. It is this fervor for discovery and comprehension that forms the cornerstone of any research. Yet, the path to robust and meaningful insights is not solely determined by the questions we ask, but more critically by the methodologies we employ. "Foundation of Research Methodology: A Comprehensive Guide" has been crafted with the intent to serve as a touchstone for scholars, students, and enthusiasts who are embarking on the journey of research. It aims to provide a holistic overview of the various techniques, methods, and philosophies that are at the forefront of research across disciplines. Regardless of whether one is stepping into the world of research for the first time or is a seasoned scholar looking to revisit the basics, this guide seeks to provide clarity, direction, and a deeper appreciation for the art and science of research methodology. Within these pages, readers will find a meticulously curated ensemble of concepts ranging from the foundational—such as the importance of framing the right questions and understanding different research paradigms—to the advanced, encompassing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches, data collection techniques, analytical tools, and more. Through real-world examples, case studies, and reflective exercises, this guide goes beyond mere presentation of information, fostering a critical-thinking mindset and empowering readers to discern, adapt, and innovate. Furthermore, in recognition of the rapidly changing landscape of research brought about by technological advances, ethical considerations, and global interconnectedness, this book ensures a forward-looking perspective. It addresses contemporary challenges and opportunities, ensuring that the reader remains abreast of the latest trends and is well-equipped for the ever-evolving world of research. It has been both an honor and a responsibility to compile this comprehensive guide. In doing so, the hope is to ignite the spark of curiosity in its readers, offering them the tools to seek answers, and more importantly, to ask the right questions. After all, at the heart of every significant discovery and breakthrough is an individual's tenacity to understand and the methodology they employ in that quest.

Book Description
The CISG is now being applied extensively both by international arbitral tribunals and by domestic courts of its more than 70 contracting states. But do they also apply it in the same manner? Although Article 7 of the CISG underscores "the need to promote uniformity in its application", it gives little guidance as to how to achieve this goal. Each judge and arbitrator is influenced by the legal methodology of his home jurisdiction. Therefore it is somewhat of a paradox that whilst the number of contracting states is constantly increasing so too is the threat of variation in application. In this book the most important issues of the CISG's methodology are analysed by leading experts from five continents. Whereas some authors provide a thorough analysis of the central topics of interpretation, others enter almost uncharted territories.

Book Description
This volume – like the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on which it is based – addresses the fundamental science that contributes to our understanding of the potential risks from ecological terrorism, i.e. dirty bombs, atomic explosions, intentional release of radionuclides into water or air. Both effects on human health (DNA and systemic effects) and on ecosystems are detailed, with particular focus on environmentally relevant low-dose ranges. The state-of-the-art contributions to the book are authored by leading experts; they tackle the relevant questions from the perspectives of radiation genetics, radiobiology, radioecology, radiation epidemiology and risk assessment.
