Book Description

Book Description
Don't Let It Happen is a life saving resource, designed to assist parents in detecting when their children are involved in an activity that can be harmful to themselves and/or other family members. Far too often, we take note when a young adult engages in harmful behavior, but we may not realize the broader impact their actions can have. As I will point out throughout this book, a young adult's actions can mean the difference between life and death for an entire family. This book is primarily for law-abiding citizens trying to raise their children and support their families. I hope it acts as a life raft in a sea of confusion. Read it and take the first steps toward personal safety for you and your children. After completing a distinguished 22-year career in the NYPD, Captain Eric Adams retired and was elected to the New York State Senate by the residents of the 20th Senatorial District in Brooklyn, NY. As a Captain in the NYPD, Eric Adams became well-known to New Yorkers as a thoughtful and tireless advocate. Currently, Senator Eric Adams serves as Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee. He is a member of the Finance, Judiciary, Banks, Consumer Protection, and Energy and Telecommunications Committees. Eric Adams is also a co founder of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care. A civil rights organization made up of law enforcement officials who dedicated their own time and resources to address issues such as: child abuse, gang awareness, police misconduct, racial profiling, youth violence and domestic violence. He received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Marist College, and is a graduate of New York City Technical College and John Jay College of Criminal Justice

No designer clothes, when I really need them. A pokey flat, and a horrible new school. No wonder I keep bunking off . . . Still, it will have to do until my real mum comes and gets me. Book Description
This innovative book takes seriously the ordinary activities of entrepreneurship and maps out new pathways for scholars to understand the nature, properties, and implications of studying practices for entrepreneurship studies. Entrepreneurship is neither an art nor a science, but a bundle of practices, as Peter Drucker once observed. Curiously however, academic research on entrepreneurship mostly abstracts away from practical activity. In contrast, Entrepreneurship As Practice takes ordinary activities of entrepreneurship seriously by mapping out new pathways for scholars to consider the everyday practices through which entrepreneurship occurs. Each chapter draws on contemporary theories of practice to illuminate the nature, properties, and implications of studying the practices of entrepreneurship. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of the journal Entrepreneurship & Regional Development.

Book Description
The office is dead. Long live the office. Despite decades of predictions that the office is on the verge of extinction, it is surviving and thriving. Of course, things are changing. And changing fast. Digital technologies are transforming not only the work we do, but also the ways our workplaces are designed, built and operated. Automation and AI mean that some jobs will no longer exist whilst others will be created. But the very essence of the workplace — human interaction and collaboration, remains as necessary as ever. In fact, it is the human focus that is driving this new age, with four generations now in the workplace together for the first time. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this book discusses the impacts of these changes on the future of work and workplace. The latest technologies are also explored from voice and digital twins, to new materials such as graphene and battery-powered buildings.

Book Description
When Detective Kate Delafield and her partner, Detective Joe Cameron, get the call to investigate a homicide in the secluded, old-money neighborhood of Hancock Park, Kate has the feeling it’s not going to be murder as usual. Her hunch is correct. A cultured, refined mother of three, Victoria Talbot is the last person you’d expect to die by gunshot, execution-style. At first the finger of guilt seems to point at the victim’s ex-husband Douglas, and everyone involved—from the authorities to his own children—are more than willing to suspect him. But for Kate, the easy way has rarely been proven the right way, and there are too many unanswered questions that suggest not all is at it seems with this dysfunctional family. Now, Douglas Talbot is on trial for his life, Kate’s lover Aimee has disappeared to God-knows-where, and Kate must piece together a deadly puzzle of secrets and lies…
