Introductory Business Statistics 2e
Author: Alexander Holmes
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 1801
Book Description
Introductory Business Statistics 2e aligns with the topics and objectives of the typical one-semester statistics course for business, economics, and related majors. The text provides detailed and supportive explanations and extensive step-by-step walkthroughs. The author places a significant emphasis on the development and practical application of formulas so that students have a deeper understanding of their interpretation and application of data. Problems and exercises are largely centered on business topics, though other applications are provided in order to increase relevance and showcase the critical role of statistics in a number of fields and real-world contexts. The second edition retains the organization of the original text. Based on extensive feedback from adopters and students, the revision focused on improving currency and relevance, particularly in examples and problems. This is an adaptation of Introductory Business Statistics 2e by OpenStax. You can access the textbook as pdf for free at openstax.org. Cranial and Postcranial Skeletal Remains from Easter Island
Author: Rupert Ivan Murrill
Publisher: U of Minnesota Press
ISBN: 081665834X
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 115
Book Description
Cranial and Postcranial Skeletal Remains from Easter Island was first published in 1968. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions. An archaeological expedition to Easter Island and the East Pacific was organized and financed by Thor Heyerdahl, the Norwegian anthropologist of Kon-Tiki fame, in 1955 -1956. Although Professor Murrill was not a member of the expedition, he was asked to study and analyze, from the standpoint of physical anthropology, the human skeletal material which was found by the expedition in excavations on Easter Island. Professor Murrill conducted a detailed examination of the remains, using such methods as metrical measurements, morphological observations, and analyses of blood group gene frequencies. In this book he presents the factual data resulting from his study, much of it in the form of comprehensive tables, and his conclusions. The findings throw significant light on the question of where the prehistoric Easter Islanders came from. Contrary to theories favored by Mr. Heyerdahl and others that these people and their culture derived from prehistoric settlements on the west coast of South America, Professor Murrill concludes that the Easter Island people were Polynesian in origin and that they may have come from the Marquesas Islands. He finds it unlikely that a Negroid migration (possibly from Melanesia) antedated a Polynesian one to Easter Island and, on the basis of his evaluation of blood group systems, he suggests that the Polynesian and the American Indian types may be derived from the same gene pool in East Asia. The book is illustrated with photographs, drawings, and maps, and there is a substantial bibliography.

Diagnostic Studies in Arithmetic
Author: Guy Thomas Buswell
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Arithmetic
Languages : en
Pages : 244
Book Description
The failures in the elementary school are caused more frequently by arithmetic than by any other subject in the curriculum. These failures can be traced to three factors: (1) materials (textbooks, practice exercises, special devices); (2) the teacher's methods of instruction or manner of presentation; (3) the methods and mental processes of the pupils. This monograph reports a study of the third factor and presents a detailed analysis of one group of mental processes--those exhibited in dealing with the four fundamental operations in arithmetic.

Handbook of Forensic Photography
Author: Sanford Weiss
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000316548
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 731
Book Description
Handbook of Forensic Photography is the most-comprehensive, definitive reference for the use of photography in the capture and presentation of forensic evidence. The intent is to inform the reader about the most complete and up-to-date methods to capture and reproduce images that most accurately represent the evidence. With the rise in importance of forensic science, crime and accident scene documentation has likewise increased in importance—not the least of which has been forensic photography. The need to use accepted practice and protocols to guarantee the authenticity of images for evidence documentation is paramount for using it in court. And as with any discipline, there is an art to the science of forensic photography. Contributing authors from various backgrounds—each experts in their field—have provided numerous case examples, best practices, and recommendations for recognizing, recording, and preserving evidence using cameras and the latest digital image technology, including video and other imaging technologies. Chapters present such topics as videography, drone photography, underwater photography, crime scene photography, autopsy photographs, fire documentation, forensic odontology, and more. The book closes with coverage of courtroom displays, presenting imaging evidence and expert witness testimony in the courtroom. Handbook of Forensic Photography is a must-have reference for experienced crime scene photographers, death and crime scene investigators, police, and forensic professionals—including medical examiners, odontologists, engineers, and forensic anthropologists—who frequently need to capture investigative photographs in the course of investigations.
