Book Description
This early work by Henri Poincare was originally published in 1904 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'Maxwell's Theory and Wireless Telegraphy' is an scientific work that details the discovery of Hertz oscillators, wave-lengths, dielectrics, and other aspects of Maxwell's theory. Jules Henri Poincare was born on 29th April 1854, in Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, France. Early on in his career, Poincare established himself as one of the leading lights in European mathematics. His qualitative theory of differential equations made a huge impact and he used this revolutionary approach to tackle problems in celestial mechanics and mathematical physics. Alongside his career in mathematics, teaching at the University of Caen, Ecole Polytechnique, and finally the University of Paris, Poincare also contributed to the engineering industry. He worked at the Ministry of Public Services constructing the northern railway and became the chief engineer at the Corps de Mines in 1893 and eventually its inspector general in 1910."

Book Description
"OSCILLATIONS AND CAMP KETTLES." It will interest all sportsmen to know that one of the very best woodsmen in this country is Mr. Frederick K. Vreeland, America's foremost expert in wireless telegraphy and translator and joint author of Maxwell's "Theory of Wireless Telegraphy." The first part of this book is a translation from H. Poincaré of Maxwell's "Theory and Hertzian Oscillations"; the second part is Mr. Vreeland's "Principles of Wireless Telegraphy," and both parts are fully illustrated by the neatly drawn diagrams of Mr. Vreeland. I have seen Mr. Vreeland in the Rocky Mountains, fished with him in McDonald River, botanized with him in the valleys of the West, hunted with him in the forests of Maine, climbed to the top of old White Cap with him, canoed with him on Moose- head Lake, and a better all around young sportsman I have never met, a good shot, a keen observer, practical naturalist, a botanist well known to fame and a thoroughbred sportsman. I do not as yet clearly see the connection between Hertzian's oscillations and camp kettles, but it must be there. At any rate, I advise all readers of RECREATION interested in electrical theories and inventions to read Vreeland's book. -Recreation, Vol. 22
