Book Description
This workbook provides a variety of activities designed to help children strengthen their math readiness skills. The material serves as an introduction to the curriculum in most basic mathematics texts. The pages are presented in a suggested order, but may be used in any order which best meets a child's needs. Parents who wish their children to prepare for further math instruction will find the book as helpful as classroom teachers will find it. The exercises are presented so that a child can work with a minimum of supervision. The following skills are presented to prepare children for further math instruction: size and position discrimination, ordinal numbers (first, second, third), shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle), number recognition (through 10), number concepts (1 through 10), and number words.

Book Description
Why should radicals be interested in playing wargames? Surely the Left can have no interest in such militarist fantasies? Yet, Guy Debord - the leader of the Situationist International - placed such importance on his invention of The Game of War described it as his most significant of his accomplishment. Intrigued by this claim, a multinational group of artists, activists and academics formed Class Wargames to investigate the political and strategic lessons that could be learnt from playing his ludic experiment. While the ideas of the Situationists continue to be highly influential in the development of subversive art and politics, relatively little attention has been paid to their strategic orientation. Determined to correct this deficiency, Class Wargames is committed to exploring how Debord used the metaphor of the Napoleonic battlefield to propagate a Situationist analysis of modern culture and politics. Inspired by his example its members have also hacked other military simulations: H.G. Wells' Little Wars; Chris Peers' Reds versus Reds and Richard Borg's Commands & Colors. Playing wargames is not a diversion from politics: it is the training ground of tomorrow's communist insurgents. Fusing together historical research on avant-garde artists, political revolutionaries and military theorists with narratives of five years of public performances, Class Wargames provides a strategic and tactical manual for subverting the economic, political and ideological hierarchies of early-21st century neoliberal capitalism. The knowledge required to create a truly human civilisation is there to be discovered on the game board!

Book Description
Ivy Smith is a woman with a grimy past and a dangerous reputation. She's known around the streets of Memphis as the secret weapon of one of the city's biggest crime lords; Magic Higgins. Due to a debt owed to Magic by Ivy's drug addicted mother, Ivy is forced to work her mother's debt off. However, Ivy ultimately chooses to stay in the dangerous game that Magic introduces her to, but what happens when everything she gets away with in her past comes to light in her future? Julian Davis is young, handsome, and has a promising career as a police officer at the Memphis Police Department. He is new on the force and is given the opportunity to help crack a case that MPD has long been trying to close. The objective: to gather enough evidence to pin both Magic Higgins and Ivy Smith for their alleged involvement in nearly thirteen strangely connected murders committed over the last seven years. Julian meets Ivy and is intrigued by her appearance but wary of her intentions. He knows that Ivy plays a very dangerous game. Is he strong enough to play along or will he fall victim to Ivy's tactics? What happens when an innocent situation becomes passionate? What happens when loyalty is questioned, and love becomes problematic? Will the snake survive, or will it choke on its own venom?

Book Description
This paper studies the volatility of commodity prices on the basis of a large dataset of monthly prices observed in international trade data from the United States over the period 2002 to 2011. The conventional wisdom in academia and policy circles is that primary commodity prices are more volatile than those of manufactured products, even though most of the existing evidence does not actually attempt to measure the volatility of prices of individual goods or commodities. Rather the literature tends to focus on trends in the evolution and volatility of ratios of price indexes composed of multiple commodities and products. This approach can be misleading. Indeed, the evidence presented in this paper suggests that on average prices of individual primary commodities may be less volatile than those of individual manufactured goods.

Book Description
The book, Economic Empowerment of Women in the Islamic World, discusses the economic, social, and political rights and status of women in Islam, which is theoretically given by the Islamic Jurisprudence (Shariah law). The chapters in this volume will address historical practices in comparison to the status of women in the contemporary Muslim world. Men and women in Islam, regardless of their age, social class, and education, are equal as citizens and individuals, but not identical in their rights and responsibilities. It can be observed from Islamic history that in the early age of Islam, women were given full confidence, trust, and high responsibilities in leadership, educational guidance, and decision-making.This volume will try to clarify the confusion in the status of the women in Islam that is presented by the media, as it is assumed that theoretical Islamic empowerment of women bears little relation to the real conditions of women in modern Muslim societies. It has been widely claimed in the media that Muslim women suffer more than men in Muslim societies and communities in terms of insecurity, domestic abuse, and low access to education and medical care. It is also stated in the press and media that absence of good governance also results in gender inequality and violation of the rights of Muslim women. This volume also aims to provide the solutions for the empowerment of women in the Islamic world. We assumed that without good governance, the status of women is not likely to improve. Muslim women have the potential to play a fundamental role in curbing corruption, social ills, violence, and crime in the Muslim world. This volume will make the case that in order to achieve stability and prosperity, the government must ensure a platform for women to participate in decision-making and hence benefit from the rights they are accorded in Islam.By covering a range of perspectives on the economic lives of Muslim women around the world, it hopes to shed light on the problems faced and to offer possible solutions to the empowerment of women in the Islamic world.
