Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Pages: 21. Chapters: Browning BLR, El Tigre (rifle), Evans Repeating Rifle, Henry rifle, Mare's Leg, Marlin Levermatic, Marlin Model 1894, Marlin Model 336, Marlin Model Golden 39A, Mossberg model 464, Remington Nylon 76, Savage Model 99, Spencer repeating rifle, Triplett & Scott carbine, Winchester Model 1892, Winchester Model 1894, Winchester Model 1895, Winchester Model 71. Excerpt: The Marlin Model 336 is a lever-action carbine made by Marlin Firearms. It is most often chambered in .30-30 Winchester or .35 Remington, though it has also been chambered in several other cartridges over the years. The carbine's precursor was the Model 1936 (later renamed the Model 36), which traces its development to the Marlin Model of 1893. The Model 36 was heavier than the Winchester 94, which was then the dominant lever action hunting rifle. It also featured a semi pistol grip wooden stock and solid top receiver with side-ejection, in contrast to the Winchester 94 carbine's straight grip stock and top-ejection receiver. The 36 was updated as the 336 in 1948, continuing the main differences with the Winchester. While most production variants of the 336 feature pistol grip stock, 20 inch barrel and full length tube magazine, other styles have been frequently offered by Marlin; for instance, a limited production of 1,000 336 "D" variants in 35 cal. with a ported 18-inch barrel, each accompanied with a certification letter from the CEO of Marlin was made circa 2000. The solid, flat top receiver and side ejection of the 336 allowed Marlin to sell to the growing number of American hunters who preferred optical sights over the traditional iron sights. In the mid-1950s Marlin incorporated its proprietary Micro-Groove rifling system into the Model 336. Microgroove rifling with many shallow grooves was designed to work better with jacketed bullets than more...

Those interested in the color version can find it through this link. https: //www.amazon.com/dp/1717954111 As of now, this seems to be the only way to find it on Amazon.com. For more than two months we have tried resolving this issue with Amazon, we are, as of yet, unsuccessful. Black & White Edition: In this compilation, McPherson covers every aspect of using, modifying, and loading ammunition for lever-action rifles, to get the most out of these guns. He chronicles his custom modifications of the Marlin 1894 and 336-based guns, building everything from a 17-caliber, quarter-MOA varmint rifle to the mighty 510 Kodiak express, which generates 5000 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. He specialized in lightweight carbines, known by friends and customers as, "Peggy rifles."This compilation covers 30 years of gunsmithing experience perfecting the Marlin rifle.

Book Description
Winchester lever-action repeating rifles are an integral part of the folklore of the American West. Introduced after the American Civil War, the first Winchester, the M1866, would go on to see military service as far afield as Bulgaria, but it was in the hands of civilians that it would become known as 'The gun that won the west'. Offering a lethal combination of portability, ruggedness and ammunition interchangeability with pistol sidearms, the Winchesters and their innovative and elegant breech-loading system represented a revolutionary design. They were used by a staggering variety of military and civilian groups - gold-miners, trappers, hunters, farmers, lawmen, professional gunmen and Native Americans. It equipped a whole generation of settlers and as such left an imprint on American culture that continues to resonate today. This book explores the Winchesters' unique place in history, revealing the technical secrets of their success with a full array of colour artwork, period illustrations and close-up photographs.
