Book Description
While most books on marketing and services are readable, very few take the student's viewpoint and set out to answer the question Is it understandable? in the affirmative. This book and its pedagogy has been designed precisely with this in mind:v Design: The book has a consistency of design that is innovative, with aesthetic appeals. v Opening and Closing Cases: Every chapter begins and ends with a case. The cases introduce the primary theme and issues discussed in the chapter and closes with analytical tasks for the students. The cases are original, pertaining to Indian situations, companies and protagonists, helping the Indian students to connect.v Objectives: Every chapter has clear learning expectations, get a glimpse of the chapter context and their respective importance. v End-of-chapter Questions: The questions are many and have been designed carefully to enhance learning for the students. There are elements of research, project work, and academic exercises in them.v Illustrations: The book is generous with pleasing and informative charts, tables and diagrams.v Glossary: The Appendix at the end of the book contains a glossary of services and marketing terminologies. v Marketing models: In addition to the text, the appendix also contains major marketing models mentioned in the text, which are frequently used by the marketers.v How to do cases: The Appendix also contains an useful section for all students a template for case discussion and analysis. There are four parts in the book. Part I takes an overview look at the major differences between services and goods and their characteristics, classifications and different models. It methodically analyses the section on the local, domestic and international conditions and environment factors that have affected services. It also examines the importance of Relationship Marketing in services. Part II examines in-depth the marketing of services. It looks sweepingly and with depth at marketing planning and strategy, service buying behaviour, knowledge management and marketing research in services, and the seven marketing mix variables for services. Part III is about the assessment of service delivery and customer relationship management. Part IV deals exclusively with comprehensive service cases. The cases are in addition to the opening and closing cases. The book lucidly explains the basic concepts of services and marketing and fills a long-standing need of the students for a book on both services and marketing.

Book Description
Architecture Post Mortem surveys architecture’s encounter with death, decline, and ruination following late capitalism. As the world moves closer to an economic abyss that many perceive to be the death of capital, contraction and crisis are no longer mere phases of normal market fluctuations, but rather the irruption of the unconscious of ideology itself. Post mortem is that historical moment wherein architecture’s symbolic contract with capital is put on stage, naked to all. Architecture is not irrelevant to fiscal and political contagion as is commonly believed; it is the victim and penetrating analytical agent of the current crisis. As the very apparatus for modernity’s guilt and unfulfilled drives-modernity’s debt-architecture is that ideological element that functions as a master signifier of its own destruction, ordering all other signifiers and modes of signification beneath it. It is under these conditions that architecture theory has retreated to an 'Alamo' of history, a final desert outpost where history has been asked to transcend itself. For architecture’s hoped-for utopia always involves an apocalypse. This timely collection of essays reformulates architecture’s relation to modernity via the operational death-drive: architecture is but a passage between life and death. This collection includes essays by Kazi K. Ashraf, David Bertolini, Simone Brott, Peggy Deamer, Didem Ekici, Paul Emmons, Donald Kunze, Todd McGowan, Gevork Hartoonian, Nadir Lahiji, Erika Naginski, and Dennis Maher.

Book Description
Squeezing a New Service Into a Crowded Market begins to answer the question of how to successfully offer another service in what appears to be an already crowded market. Is there room for one more hospital? Another law firm? Another newspaper? Another spreadsheet? Yes, according to Dennis Cahill. He shows readers how--through theory and case studies--to define, produce, and market a new service in a field where there already exists a similar service. He provides a roadmap for successful planning and introduction of new services. This roadmap uses perceptual mapping and case applications to show how adding a new service should and should not be done. Perceptual mapping is fully described and its use to find gaps in the service coverage is detailed. Three case studies of services which have been introduced into crowded markets are used to show how and how not to offer a new service. Cahill looks at these services from the perspective of customer design and internal development. Both practitioners of services marketing and advanced marketing students who want the "real world" application of the marketing theory learned in the classroom can benefit from Squeezing a New Service Into a Crowded Market. Part I explores the research necessary to utilize Cahill's approach. In Part II, Cahill presents detailed case examples from his own files of how various services were offered to crowded markets--and all failed. These case analyses dissect the failures, explain where, why, and how they failed, and interpose what could and should have been done to prevent--or at least reduce the probability of--a failure. Readers will clearly see the common thread running through these failures and will be able to avoid failures of their own. Part III deals with innovation and how to handle it in a service firm.

Book Description
The second and final volume of inquisitions for the reign of Henry V. This volume of the Calendar of Inquisitions Post Mortem completes the inquisitions for the reign of Henry V. The period covers Henry's second invasion of France and his third and final campaign there, brought to an end by his death at Vincennes in 1422. Inquisitions were taken after the deaths of several prominent casualties of the wars, including several tenants in chief who held lands in many counties. Of particular interest for tenurial and economic historians, settlements of property are recited and most estates minutely described and valued. Apart from the inquisitions there are the usual analogous documents such as assignments of dower and proofs of age and, in one instance, a partition of land between coheirs. Women appear holding land not only as tenants in chief but jointly with their husbands and as dowagers. Families include Ros, Clifford, Fitzwaryn, Scrope, Arundel, Courtenay, Dymmok, dela Pole. J.L. KIRBY and JANET H. STEVENSON are both contributors to the New Dictionary of National Biography.
