Book Description
The long-awaited sixth edition of Mann on the Legal Aspect of Money takes account of a number of significant developments since the last edition was published in 1992. Without question, the completion of monetary union in Europe is the key achievement of the intervening years. An entirely newsection of the book deals with this subject in detail; apart from private law aspects, the contentious issue of eurozone monetary sovereignty is considered and the text also discusses the possible consequences of the breakdown of the single currency area. The text also includes a review of the RomeConvention on the Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations and its consequences in the monetary field. At a more general level, the book reviews the legal meaning of the term "money" and considers whether traditional definitions can stand in the light of technological and other developments. The book also considers the nature and character of monetary obligations, including the consequences of nonpayment, devaluation, inflation and revalorisation. In the cross-border sphere, separate parts of the text are devoted to exchange control (including Article VIII (2)(b) of the IMF Agreement and the private international law of exchange control) and to the public international law of money (including the monetary law of inter-state obligations, treaty rules of monetary conduct and the protection of foreign monetary systems).

Book Description
Providing a thorough legal analysis of money in all its aspects, this has been the leading text on the private and public law of money since the first edition in 1939. This latest edition considers issues that arose in the course of the financial crisis, including the legal aspects of the Greek financial crisis, the implications of quantitative easing and the 'lender of last resort' function of the central bank. There is a new chapter on payment processes following the Payment Services Directive and legislation designed to reinforce legal arrangements in the context of payment systems.

Book Description
The role that payments play within the general framework of financial services in the EC is indispensable for the realization of a true single European market including, inter alia, the conditions of cross-border purchasing, the legal framework of consumer protection, and the technical standards against fraud in payment systems. The Commission's New Legal Framework for payment services in the internal market - as evidenced by the EC Payment Services Directive (PSD) - represents an important step towards the completion of an initiative for a Single Euro Payments Area and, more broadly, EU-wide.

Book Description
The open access publication of this book has been published with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation. In Monetary Stability as a Common Concern in International Law, Lucía Satragno argues that monetary stability is a global public good that must be promoted and protected at all levels of governance. In doing so, the book accomplishes two tasks. On one hand, it provides an up to date analysis of the role of law and institutions in the international monetary field since the collapse of the Bretton Woods system. On the other hand, it applies the methodological approach proposed by the novel doctrine of Common Concern of Humankind to monetary stability as a case study. Accordingly, the book examines not only the status quo of the international monetary system, but also looks at the ‘new and different realism’ that would be envisaged in monetary affairs in the case of a fully-fledged principle of Common Concern.
