While in Korea he deployed for Team Spirit in 1983 and attended the Republic of Korea Ranger School. He details the tensions along the DMZ during events such as the downing of KAL flight 007 and President Ronald Reagan's historic visit. While in Louisiana he deployed to Germany for REFORGER in 1984.
