Machinery Selection Model
Author: Ramzy Yusuf Khoury

Category : Agricultural machinery

Pages : 272
Book Description
A field machinery selection model for multiple cropping (MACMACEL) was developed to assist in the minimization of the total cost of owning and operating machinery by selecting the optimal system size for a variety of field crops. The model was simulated by a user-friendly computer algorithm installed on a microcomputer using Fortran 77 language. It starts by determining the optimum machinery sizes for a known cropping pattern and a set of farm machinery. This consists of tractor(s), self propelled machine(s), and tractor drawn implements. the model can take into account equipment(s) that are already owned by the farmer. Trials (iterations) are made with various numbers and sizes of machines to obtain the most economical machinery set that can finish all farming operations specified within the given time, satisfy power requirements, and have the least total annual equivalent cost. For that set of machinery, printed output includes the schedule of field operations, the quantity and type of machines and implements, and itemized list of the cost based on the cash flow method.

Equipment Selection for Mining: With Case Studies
Author: Christina N. Burt
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319762559
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 161
Book Description
This unique book presents innovative and state-of-the-art computational models for determining the optimal truck–loader selection and allocation strategy for use in large and complex mining operations. The authors provide comprehensive information on the methodology that has been developed over the past 50 years, from the early ad hoc spreadsheet approaches to today’s highly sophisticated and accurate mathematical-based computational models. The authors’ approach is motivated and illustrated by real case studies provided by our industry collaborators. The book is intended for a broad audience, ranging from mathematicians with an interest in industrial applications to mining engineers who wish to utilize the most accurate, efficient, versatile and robust computational models in order to refine their equipment selection and allocation strategy. As materials handling costs represent a significant component of total costs for mining operations, applying the optimization methodology developed here can substantially improve their competitiveness
