Book Description
This book examines how Lutheranism continued to define itself as the evangelical catholic faith during almost two centuries of struggle over "ownership" of the fathers. Central to the discussion is Martin Chemnitz, who grappled with charges of theological novelty, appealed to a qualified consensus of the fathers, and responded to Trent's claim to the ancient ecumenical consensus. Subsequent responses of Lutheran Orthodoxy to the Roman Catholic defense of Tridentine dogma - and its particular appeal to the ancient consensus and, later, to the patristic ecumenism of Georg Calixt - are also explored. Book Description
In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, God creates the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all of its things. It's only fitting that in the last two chapters in the last book of the Bible, Revelation, that He reveals what is to happen at the end of creation and the world. This Theological Commonplace looks at the End of the Word, Hell, and Eternal Death. In this translation of Johann Gerhard's work, the reader will be introduced to the onomatology of different words and phrases at the beginning of each topic before diving into crucial questions about the topic. Pulling from Scripture and addressing questions such as Is there a hell? or Will the end of the world come? the reader will be able to see sound biblical arguments answering these questions. Additionally, the antithesis is given room to be discussed to show how both sides of the argument have come to fruition.

Book Description
This book formulates a new theological approach to the study of religion in gaming. Video games have become one of the most important cultural artefacts of modern society, both as mediators of cultural, social, and religious values and in terms of commercial success. This has led to a significant increase in the critical analysis of this relatively new medium, but theology as an academic discipline is noticeably behind the other humanities on this subject. The book first covers the fundamentals of cultural theology and video games. It then moves on to set out a Christian systematic theology of gaming, focussing on creational theology, Christology, anthropology, evil, moral theology, and thanatology. Each chapter introduces case studies from video games connected to the specific theme. In contrast to many studies which focus on online multiplayer games, the examples considered are largely single player games with distinct narratives and ‘end of game’ moments. The book concludes by synthesising these themes into a new theology of video games. This study addresses a significant aspect of contemporary society that has yet to be discussed in any depth by theologians. It is, therefore, a fantastic resource for any scholar engaging with the religious aspects of digital and popular culture.
