Book Description
The story is about the history of an American family that experiences an unusual phenomenon, which they call "the pull." A family member will begin to have disturbing dreams and be visited by very unusual strangers. These are the events that coincide with the coming of the pull. The story begins with the main character, Raphael Wellington, vividly recounting one of these ominous dreams of his, which causes him to give a frightening warning to all who would read his story. After the death of their mother, Raphael and his sister, Rachael, attempt to move on with their lives by returning to their childhood home. It was during this visit that Raphael makes a profound discovery: He was not the only member of his family to have these dreams and to see the strangers. He learns that these strangers have been visiting his family for generations. Now Raphael finally realizes that the riddle of understanding the meaning of the dreams, which have plagued his family for centuries and now are causing him nightmares as well, has fallen squarely upon his shoulders to unravel. And if that wasn't already enough, he must also figure out just who are these mysterious strangers that have been visiting his ancestors for all these many years. The discovery in his mother's attic is what begins to gradually put his family's strange history together for him and sends him on an unimaginable quest to discover the never before understood secret of the important role his family has had in the shaping of American history, and the eventual role he has to play in the shaping of the future for this planet.

Book Description
Late Medieval and Renaissance art was surprisingly pushy; its architecture demanded that people move through it in prescribed patterns, its sculptures played elaborate games alternating between concealment and revelation, while its paintings charged viewers with imaginatively moving through them. Viewers wanted to interact with artwork in emotional and/or performative ways. This inventive and personal interface between viewers and artists sometimes conflicted with the Church’s prescribed devotional models, and in some cases it complemented them. Artists and patrons responded to the desire for both spontaneous and sanctioned interactions by creating original ways to amplify devotional experiences. The authors included here study the provocation and the reactions associated with medieval and Renaissance art and architecture. These essays trace the impetus towards interactivity from the points of view of their creators and those who used them. Contributors include: Mickey Abel, Alfred Acres, Kathleen Ashley, Viola Belghaus, Sarah Blick, Erika Boeckeler, Robert L.A. Clark, Lloyd DeWitt, Michelle Erhardt, Megan H. Foster-Campbell, Juan Luis González García, Laura D. Gelfand, Elina Gertsman, Walter S. Gibson, Margaret Goehring, Lex Hermans, Fredrika Jacobs, Annette LeZotte, Jane C. Book Description
This volume provides the first English translation of all the known correspondence to and from S ren Kierkegaard, including a number of his letters in draft form and papers pertaining to his life and death. These fascinating documents offer new access to the character and lifework of the gifted philosopher, theologian, and psychologist. Kierkegaard speaks often and openly about his desire to correspond, and the resulting desire to write for a greater audience. He consciously recognizes letter-writing as an opportunity to practice composition. Unlike most correspondence, Kierkegaard's letters expressly "do not require a reply"--he insists on this as a principle, while he clearly and earnestly yearns for a response to his efforts. Among his other principles are purposefulness, directness, and the equality of a letter to a visit with a friend (Kierkegaard preferred the former to the latter). Perhaps more than anything else in print, Kierkegaard's Letters and Documents reveal his love affair with the written word.
