Book Description
Legal education pedagogy is transforming rapidly. These simulations bring traditional torts casebooks alive in challenging and empowering ways; bring greater clarity and mastery to tort law concepts; and bridge the study of law into the dynamic practice of law. Using modern simulations representing clients in core "bread and butter" lawyering tasks, students apply their casebook rules to conduct discovery, advise clients, correspond with counsel, draft pleadings, calculate damages, and argue motions. Students move beyond the repetition of appellate cases, incorporating statutes and using secondary sources and practitioner tools to save valuable time and resources. While emphasizing substantive tort law mastery, the simulations further demonstrate how law practice seamlessly connects procedure, substance, and skills.

Book Description
When beginning a legal career, conducting legal research can seem like an insurmountable task. This book attempts to make the task manageable by first looking at background information about each of the major types of legal authority that must searched. With this information, it then examines various options for searching each one based upon the pre-existing knowledge held by the researcher. The various tools available for searching are described, including the strengths and limitations of each and the steps necessary to overcome those limitations. The text also discusses the relationship between the various sources in the hierarchy of legal authority. This information is critical while searching for relevant materials and in understanding the law once relevant materials are located. Given the nature of the tools available for legal research today, many references to the Westlaw and Lexis legal databases are included; while not necessary, access to one or both will be beneficial in understanding everything discussed in the book. Many illustrations of real-life research are included throughout. Following discussion of each major topic is a summary of the major points and an assignment designed to give the researcher experience using the tools and following the steps described in the text. A total of ten assignments, including one review assignment mid-way through the text, are included. Also included is a guide to citing various primary and secondary sources according to the rules contained in the latest version of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation . References to specific rules are shown with examples of cites to all the major resources. Access to either the printed or online version of The Bluebook , while not necessary, is helpful. The book finishes with practical tips about overcoming common mistakes made when conducting legal research that will improve the researcher's efficiency.

Book Description
This book brings contract law to life through contemporary problems to help students build a skill set they can use in practice. In the real world of practice, abstract contract principles are applied to specific factual settings. Facts don't arrive pre-digested and regurgitated for baby birds or law associates. This book pickpockets life for real-world documents and contemporary situations, like the pandemic, to help students learn how contract law works in practice. Each chapter provides concise discussion of a specific topic or issue in contract law and a realistic, documented problem that provides a base for students and enough material for traditional Socratic method teaching. Imperfect but real contracts will give students the chance to see how client counseling, fact-gathering and careful crafting of contract language can help clients avoid disputes. Stories from art, sports and Internet games make the contract concepts vivid and memorable to facilitate student engagement and productive classroom discussion.

Book Description
Demonstrating how simulation can be constructed and developed as a mechanism for delivering and assessing, this book argues that simulation is a pedagogically valuable and practical tool in teaching the modern law curriculum, and discusses the claim that this form of experiential and problem-based learning enables students to integrate the 'classroom' experience with the real world experiences they will encounter in their professional lives. The study is based on contributions from law teachers within the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa and the USA, as well as the authors own experiences in teaching law.
