Book Description
Learning Sales provides comprehensive treatment of UCC Article 2, employing strategies designed to help students both learn the course material and develop the skill of reading and understanding statutes. The book also includes coverage of salient aspects of Article 2A and the CISG, for those who wish to include those topics, either as separate units or in comparative fashion. The book is divided into eight Chapters, each focused on an aspect of sales law addressed in Article 2 (e.g., contract formation, warranties, and remedies). The Chapters are further divided into 24 Assignments, each focused on an identified set of sections from Article 2 (or 2A or the CISG). The second edition continues with the structure and teaching methods of the first edition, taking full advantage of active learning techniques: Consistent with the rest of the Learning series, the book draws upon current learning theory and practice by articulating "Key Concepts" for each Chapter and identifying "Learning Outcomes and Objectives" for each Assignment. "Reading the Code" questions for each set of statutory provisions guide students to learn the UCC by actively reading and analyzing the language of Article 2 themselves, rather than relying more passively on what others (judges and commentators) have said about the Code. "Examples and Analysis" entries for each set of Code provisions provide case summaries showing how courts apply those portions of the Code. In the second edition, the Analysis entries include expanded explanations of the cases, to introduce students to more nuances of the Code. Judicial opinions appear only where they are important for conveying analytic approaches. They are accompanied by questions about the case, to help students be more focused in their reading and class preparation. "Applying the Code" problems appear at the end of each section or Assignment, allowing students to assess and integrate their understanding of the preceding material. Students enjoy the book's focus on problem-solving and can see their skills of reading and interpreting the Code improve as they engage with the examples and problems. The authors are experienced teachers of Sales and Contracts who developed and refined the materials to reflect their own active engagement of students.

Book Description
Learning Sales provides comprehensive treatment of UCC Article 2 while employing strategies designed to help students both learn the course material and develop the skill of reading and understanding statutes. The book also includes coverage of Article 2A and the CISG, which may be taught as separate units or in comparative fashion. The subject matter is presented in 27 assignments, each with targeted "reading the code" questions to help students master the statutory text, examples of how courts apply the Code, and numerous problems for students to test their understanding and skill. Learning Sales is both a new volume in the Learning series and an extensive update and revision of the popular Chomsky & Kunz, Sale of Goods: Reading and Applying the Code (2d ed.). As in the previous volume, the book invites students to learn the UCC by actively reading and analyzing the language of Article 2 themselves, rather than relying more passively on what others (judges and commentators) have said about the Code. Judicial opinions appear only where they are most pedagogically appropriate and are edited to target salient points. Each opinion excerpt is preceded by questions about the case to help students be more focused in their reading and class preparation. Students enjoy the focus on problem-solving and can see their skill at reading and interpreting the Code improve as they engage with the examples and problems. Consistent with the rest of the Learning series, the book draws further upon current learning theory and practice by articulating key concepts for each section and specific learning outcomes for each assignment. The authors of the original book (Carol Chomsky and Christina Kunz) have been joined by Jennifer Martin, who writes the annual survey of sales cases in the Business Lawyer, and Elizabeth Schiltz, an experienced teacher of Sales, Contracts, and Payment Systems. The Teachers' Manual includes answers to all questions and problems posed in the book and includes additional information to help instructors use the book most effectively.

Book Description
The objectives of the Seventh Edition are twofold: to help the student understand the substantive law of sales and develop the skills of statutory analysis in the context of a comprehensive statute that contains critical definitions and numerous cross references. The materials consist of cases, text, and problems. The cases are selected because of their effectiveness as teaching materials, presenting difficult legal questions and explaining the business background of the disputes. The notes elaborate on the background and push the student to question the rationale of the court. The problems further explore the soundness of the court's decision and present new issues of statutory analysis for the student to consider. They require the student to dig deeply into the language of the statute and the Official Comments, working back and forth among the various sections that are relevant to solving the problem.

Book Description
This is not Professor Kingsfield's casebook. In fact, there's very little that's traditional about Learning Contracts. Instead, Learning Contracts organizes the waterfront of core contract law, theory, and policy into fifty discrete lessons. While the book works seamlessly in bricks-and-mortar classes, it was expressly built for today's increasingly diverse world of online, flipped, hybrid or blended learning formats, and it works uniquely well in each of these settings. Moreover, the newest edition of Learning Contracts puts professors in the driver's seat, offering unparalleled customizability and flexibility. Each lesson begins with clearly articulated outcomes, which are followed by highly structured presentations, detailed explanations, illustrative examples, and helpful summaries, all working together to make the doctrine, theory, and policy of contracts readily accessible to students. Additionally, each and every lesson employs a comprehensive and consistent comparative approach, systematically addressing not only the common law, but also UCC Article 2 and the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG). Like other titles in the Learning series, Learning Contracts relies on very few cases. The examples in each lesson are frequently based on classic contracts cases--and the robust supplemental materials offer edited texts of cases for many lessons for those who want to inject more case method into their class. But rather than relying heavily on the case method, which can often leave students hanging, Learning Contracts provides students with the tools they need to learn the basic law in advance and spend the vast majority of their class time putting doctrine, theory, and policy into practice, while working through problems presented at the end of each lesson and in the supplemental materials.

Book Description
The Revised 4th Edition of Civil Procedure: A Contemporary Approach is updated with references to the 2015 amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, as well as case law developments since the 2014 publication date of the Fourth Edition. Major recent case law developments included in this revised edition consist of decisions from the Supreme Court addressing personal jurisdiction (Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations, S.A. v. Brown, 131 S. Ct. 2846 (2011), J. McIntyre Machinery, Ltd. v. Nicastro, 131 S. Ct. 2780 (2011), and Daimler AG v. Bauman, 134 S. Ct. 746 (2014)), federal question jurisdiction (Gunn v. Minton, 133 S. Ct. 1059 (2013)), removal of class actions (Standard Fire Ins. Co. v. Knowles, 133 S. Ct. 1345 (2013)), change of venue and forum-selection clauses (Atl. Marine Constr. Co., Inc. v. U.S. Dist. Court for W. Dist. of Texas, 134 S. Ct. 568 (2013) [now a principal case]), class certification (Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. v. Dukes, 131 S. Ct. 2541 (2011), Comcast Corp. v. Behrend, 133 S. Ct. 1426 (2013), Amgen Inc. v. Conn. Ret. Plans & Trust Funds, 133 S. Ct. 1184 (2013)), class arbitration waivers (AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion, 131 S. Ct. 1740 (2011) and American Express Co. v. Italian Colors Restaurant, 133 S. Ct. 2304 (2013)), and offers of judgment (Genesis HealthCare Corp. v. Symczyk, 133 S. Ct. 1523 (2013)). Regarding the 2015 amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, this revised edition makes reference to them in the text where appropriate. The changes include the "Duke Rules" package, which alters Rules 1, 4, 16, 26, 30, 31, 33 and 34 to make proportionality a main component of the scope of discovery, to eliminate access to subject matter discovery, require early discussions regarding preservation and privilege protection, permit early document requests, and shorten the time permitted to issue scheduling orders and to achieve service of process. The amendment to Rule 37 codifies an approach to preservation and spoliation that favors curative measures unless there is intentional spoliation, in which case more severe sanctions such as adverse inference instructions or dismissal become available. This edition also fully incorporates recent amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and to Title 28 of the U.S. Code, including the Federal Courts Jurisdiction and Venue Clarification Act of 2011 and the 2013 amendment to Rule 45 (subpoenas). Finally, the Revised Fourth Edition integrates references to online assessment tools in the Casebook Plus platform. These consist of a bank of 200 multiple-choice questions that provide comprehensive assessment of the topics covered in this book, with detailed feedback consisting of explanations for both correct and incorrect responses. This feature provides an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the material actively as the course progresses and permits students and professors to determine the extent to which the material is being learned.
