Introduction : Face à une augmentation significative depuis une dizaine d'années de la prévalence du syndrome dépressif chez l'adolescent en France, sa prise en charge représente un enjeu de santé publique majeur. Le taux d'hospitalisation pour idées suicidaires et tentatives de suicide chez l'adolescent depuis l'automne 2020 a nettement augmente. Les délais d'attente pour obtenir une consultation en pédopsychiatrie ne cessent de croitre, plaçant le médecin généraliste en première ligne pour ces adolescents. Objectifs : L'objectif de cette étude était d'explorer les points de vue des médecins généralistes sur la gestion des adolescents souffrant de troubles dépressifs, d'identifier les défis auxquels ils peuvent être confrontés dans les soins actuels et de suggérer des perspectives d'amélioration. Méthode : Une étude qualitative a été conduite auprès de médecins généralistes exerçant dans le département de la Loire. Les entretiens ont été réalisés de décembre 2022 à mai 2023. Résultats : Dans une période singulière du développement, on observe chez ce jeune adulte en devenir, accompagné par ses parents, une évolution de la relation médecin-patient. Le médecin de famille demeure, conscient de son rôle central de prise en charge, mais l'adolescent change. En conséquence, malgré une relation tripartite, les médecins généralistes connaissent un sentiment d'isolement ; sentiment exacerbé et expliqué également par des incertitudes concernant leurs connaissances et des ressources humaines limitées, en particulier l'accès aux pédopsychiatres. Afin de pallier à cette solitude, le médecin traitant a recours à différentes stratégies : la psychothérapie, les urgences pédiatriques, les centres médico-psychologiques. Des formations s'inscrivant dans la durée et différents outils sont souhaités par les médecins traitants. Conclusion : Face aux difficultés rencontrées dans la prise en charge du syndrome dépressif de l'adolescent, les médecins généralistes apparaissent en demande de ressources et souhaiteraient qu'une plus grande sensibilisation à ce sujet soit effectuée. Des perspectives se dégagent pour répondre à leurs attentes notamment par le biais de formations et d'un accès plus rapide à la prise en charge en pédopsychiatrie.
