Contexte : Les adolescents vivant avec une trisomie 21 présentent des besoins en termes de vie affective et sexuelle, et notamment en termes d'éducation : celle-ci existe mais est insuffisante. Objectifs : Le but de cette étude est d'investiguer comment les ergothérapeutes peuvent accompagner cette population dans l'éducation et la construction de leur vie affective et sexuelle. La question de recherche est : Quels moyens l'ergothérapeute en institution peut-il mettre en oeuvre dans l'accompagnement à la vie affective et sexuelle de l'adolescent vivant avec une trisomie 21 ? Méthode : Dans le cadre d'une étude qualitative exploratoire, trois entretiens individuels semi-directifs ont été réalisés avec trois professionnelles (une conseillère conjugale/formatrice et deux ergothérapeutes) à propos de l'accompagnement à la vie affective et sexuelle des adolescents vivant avec une trisomie 21. Résultats : Toutes les professionnelles ont estimé que les ergothérapeutes pouvaient avoir un impact positif dans la construction et l'éducation à la vie affective et sexuelle des adolescents vivant avec une trisomie 21. Elles ont mentionné différents moyens aspécifiques : l'établissement d'une relation de confiance, la communication, des interventions individuelles et groupales, des outils pédagogiques. Les participantes ont également cité des moyens spécifiques : les activités de vie quotidienne, des outils maison, des aménagements de l'environnement, une approche holistique singulière, des compétences techniques. Conclusion : Les ergothérapeutes en institution peuvent utiliser différents moyens (spécifiques et aspécifiques) au sein d'équipes pluridisciplinaires pour accompagner les adolescents vivant avec une trisomie 21 dans l'éducation et la construction de leur vie affective et sexuelle.

The report analyses nationally representative data to show that parental background is more important than disability status in shaping young people's aspirations; despite high aspirations, educational and occupational outcomes are significantly worse for disabled young people and the gap between disabled and non-disabled young people's experiences widens as they get older.
