Book Description
The Roman architect and engineer Vitruvius declared firmitas, utilitas, and venustas-firmness, commodity, and delight- to be the three essential attributes of architecture. These qualities are brilliantly explored in this book, which uniquely comprises both a detailed survey of Western architecture, including Pre-Columbian America, and an introduction to architecture from the Middle East, India, Russia, China, and Japan. The text encourages readers to examine closely the pragmatic, innovative, and aesthetic attributes of buildings, and to imagine how these would have been praised or criticized by contemporary observers. Artistic, economic, environmental, political, social, and technological contexts are discussed so as to determine the extent to which buildings met the needs of clients, society at large, and future generations.

Djedefre becomes king, with his brother Hordjedef his principal adviser. Breaking with tradition, the king appoints Rait as his architect, gambling that she will be up to the task of building a pyramid. An earthquake damages the Sphinx, and is seen as an omen of the gods' disfavour, but the king makes a decision that might avert disaster, though many view it as added blasphemy. Concerned for the future, those close to the king plot to remove him. The king's heir is put aside, and a struggle for power breaks out, leading to deadly strife between the brothers Baka and Setka. Death and exile follow, with consequences that threaten Egypt's future.

Book Description
Challenges the scientific theories on the establishment of civilization and technology • Contains 42 essays by 17 key thinkers in the fields of alternative science and history, including Christopher Dunn, Frank Joseph, Will Hart, Rand Flem-Ath, and Moira Timmes • Edited by Atlantis Rising publisher, J. Douglas Kenyon In Forbidden History writer and editor J. Douglas Kenyon has chosen 42 essays that have appeared in the bimonthly journal Atlantis Rising to provide readers with an overview of the core positions of key thinkers in the field of ancient mysteries and alternative history. The 17 contributors include among others, Rand Flem-Ath, Frank Joseph, Christopher Dunn, and Will Hart, all of whom challenge the scientific establishment to reexamine its underlying premises in understanding ancient civilizations and open up to the possibility of meaningful debate around alternative theories of humanity's true past. Each of the essays builds upon the work of the other contributors. Kenyon has carefully crafted his vision and selected writings in six areas: Darwinism Under Fire, Earth Changes--Sudden or Gradual, Civilization's Greater Antiquity, Ancestors from Space, Ancient High Tech, and The Search for Lost Origins. He explores the most current ideas in the Atlantis debate, the origins of the Pyramids, and many other controversial themes. The book serves as an excellent introduction to hitherto suppressed and alternative accounts of history as contributors raise questions about the origins of civilization and humanity, catastrophism, and ancient technology. The collection also includes several articles that introduce, compare, contrast, and complement the theories of other notable authors in these fields, such as Zecharia Sitchin, Paul LaViolette, John Michell, and John Anthony West.

Book Description
The designs of the pyramids of ancient Egypt evolved over time; they had connections with the ancient myths, legends, and with the stars as they were in ancient times. When pyramid dimensions are converted to 'cubits' and 'seked,' revealing relationships emerge that were obscured by using using modern units. All of the energy of building came from manpower, courtesy of the energy consumed in the workers' food and drink. The mathematics of ramp construction, and of the use of ramps to convey stones at the phenomenal rates apparently achieved, challenge pet theories of construction. Most captivating is a study of the culture of the builders, evidenced in models of villages and farms, scenes of food preparation, toys, statues, magic, and tomb art.

Book Description
The Old Kingdom of Egypt (circa 2613-2181 BC) is otherwise called the 'Age of the Pyramids' or 'Age of the Pyramid Builders' as it incorporated the great fourth Dynasty when King Sneferu idealized the craft of pyramid building, and the pyramids of Giza were developed under the rulers Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. The verifiable records of this period, the fourth, sixth Dynasties of Egypt, are scant, and antiquarians respect the historical backdrop of the time as in a real sense 'written in stone' and generally compositional in that it is through the landmarks and their engravings that researchers have had the option to develop a set of experiences. The actual pyramids transfer sparse data on their developers. However, the morgue sanctuaries fabricated close by, and the stelae which went with them give the ruler's names and other significant data. Further, engravings in stone made somewhere else from the time record different occasions and the dates on which they happened. At last, the burial place of the last lord of the fifth Dynasty, Unas, gives the main Pyramid Texts (expand artworks and engravings inside the burial chamber), which shed light on the strict convictions of the time.
