Of Man, the eldest son of Colonel Henry Murray and a descendant Of the third Duke of Athole; his family became Lords of Man in the eighteenth century. At Cambridge he took the highest honours, being first in the First Class of the Natural Science Tripos in 1867. His special subject was Botany; this brought him into close connection with Prof. Babington, of whom he always spoke with great regard. In 1882 he was elected f.l.s. Ordained in 1868, he held curacies at Plymstock and Beckenham. From 1877 to 1882 he had the sole charge of Baltonsborough, Somerset; and for the last twenty-five years of his life he was Vicar of Shapwick, Dorset, where he was laid to rest on November 3rd. I paid him several Visits there, and he was evidently much respected and beloved by his parishioners. He was a High Churchman, a good extempore preacher, and latterly an able and active member of the Salisbury Diocesan Synod.
