John Robinson was born in 1575 in Sturton-le-Steeple, Nottingham, England. He earned a B.A. at Cambridge University in 1595. He married Bridget White in 1603. John was involved in the movement to reform the Church of England and found it necessary to move to Holland for the safety of his family. He died in Leyden, Holland in 1625. His son, Issac, immigrated to America in 1631. Traces his direct descendants to Addison Gilman Robinson, who was born August 25, 1831 in Franklin County, Maine. He married Catherine Melissa Harriman and they settled in Viola, Minnesota, where he died in 1912. Descendants and relatives lived in Maine, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and elsewhere.
