A system was developed by the Forest Insect and Disease Survey (FIDS) Technology Development Project at the Petawawa National Forestry Institute(PNFI) to process FIDS sampling form data and, eventually, to process themany other types of data available to FIDS. The system, FIDSINFOBASE, wasdesigned and programmed using the INGRES relational database managementsystem. Various types of forms data entry, modification, analysis, querying, and reporting are available to each of the six regional FIDS units acrossCanada, to FIDS headquarters, and FIDS-PNFI operations.
