Ionospheric Multi-Spacecraft Analysis Tools
Author: Malcolm Wray Dunlop
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030267326
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 296
Book Description
This open access book provides a comprehensive toolbox of analysis techniques for ionospheric multi-satellite missions. The immediate need for this volume was motivated by the ongoing ESA Swarm satellite mission, but the tools that are described are general and can be used for any future ionospheric multi-satellite mission with comparable instrumentation. In addition to researching the immediate plasma environment and its coupling to other regions, such a mission aims to study the Earth’s main magnetic field and its anomalies caused by core, mantle, or crustal sources. The parameters for carrying out this kind of work are examined in these chapters. Besides currents, electric fields, and plasma convection, these parameters include ionospheric conductance, Joule heating, neutral gas densities, and neutral winds.

Project Firefly
Author: D. Golomb
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Atmospheric diffusion
Languages : en
Pages : 146
Book Description
Past and future Firefly experiments (the release of chemicals into the upper atmosphere) are further analyzed. The initial expansion to ambient pressure of explosive releases is treated by Brode's blast wave theory. Upper atmosphere wind, wind shear, molecular and turbulent diffusion studies are summarized. The propagation models of artificial electron clouds are reexamined. Missile trail phenomena and their relationship to some Firefly experiments are discussed. Computer solutions are obtained for diffusion-chemical kinetics equations relating to various releases. (Author).

Low Latitude Aeronomical Processes
Author: A. P. Mitra
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483150747
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 321
Book Description
Low Latitude Aeronomical Processes contains the papers presented at the symposium on Low Latitude Aeronomical Processes, held in Bangalore, India in May and June 1979. The conference focuses on the discussion and exchange of scientific studies on low latitude aeronomy, of which India is one of the main practitioners. The presentations contained in the book cover areas of study in equatorial electrojet, electric field, and electric current; low latitude middle atmosphere; and low latitude ionosphere above 100 km. Trans-ionospheric propagation in the equatorial regions and stratospheric chemistry and sun-weather relationships for low latitude regions, as well as a discussion on incoherent and coherent scatter observations at low latitude, are encompassed as well. Atmospheric physicists and researchers will find this book an interesting read.
