Book Description
The study consisted of a search of available literature and review of correspondence from manufacturers to determine if a laboratory investigation is warranted to study promising plastic- and rubber-based coatings that may be used in lieu of rubbed finishes on formed concrete surfaces. It was decided that the use of plastic- and rubber-based coating systems offered by various manufacturers has merit if used under proper conditions. However, laboratory and field tests should be made on each product before acceptance by the Corps of Engineers as a substitute for quality rubbed finishes. These coatings are not a cure all, and will not cover poor concrete construction work. (Author).
