Book Description
This book contains papers presented at the International Symposium on Elect- magnetic Fields in Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering ISEF’07 which was held in Prague, the Czech Republic, from September 13 to 15, 2007. ISEF conferences have been organized since 1985 and from the very beginning it was a common initiative of Polish and other European researchers who have dealt with electromagnetic ?eld in electrical engineering. The conference travels through Europe and is organized in various academic centres. Relatively often, it was held in some Polish city as the initiative was on the part of Polish scientists. Now ISEF is much more international and successive events take place in different European academic centres renowned for electromagnetic research. This time it was Prague, famous for its beauty and historical background, as it is the place where many c- tures mingle. The venue of the conference was the historical building of Charles University, placed just in the centre of Prague. The Technical University of Prague, in turn, constituted the logistic centre of the conference. It is the tradition of the ISEF meetings that they try to tackle quite a vast area of computational and applied electromagnetics. Moreover, the ISEF symposia aim at combining theory and practice; therefore the majority of papers are deeply rooted in engineering problems, being simultaneously of a high theoretical level.

Book Description
To built intelligent systems that can cope with real world problems we need to - velop computational mechanisms able to deal with very large amounts of data, gen- ate complex plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies, re-plan their actions in real time, provide user friendly communication for human-device interactions, and perform complex optimization problems. In each of these tasks intelligence techno- gies play an important role, providing designers and creators with effective and adequate computational models. The field of intelligence technologies covers a variety of computational approaches that are often suggested and inspired by biological systems, exhibiting functional richness and flexibility of their natural behavior. This class of technologies consists of such important approaches as data mining algorithms, neural networks, genetic al- rithms, fuzzy and multi-valued logics, rough sets, agent-oriented computation, often integrated into complex hybrid solutions. Intelligence technologies are used to built machines that can act and think like living systems, solve problems in an autonomous way, develop rich private knowledge bases and produce results not foreseen and programmed in a direct way by designers and creators.

Book Description
The contributions in this publication on electromagnetic fields in electrical engineering aim at joining theory and practice, thus the majority of the papers are deeply rooted in engineering problems and simultaneously present a high theoretical level. There are three chapters in this volume, all divided into seven subchapters. Papers gathered in the first chapter are mainly devoted to physics of electromagnetic materials and mathematical approaches to electromagnetic problems. The next chapter contains apers dealing with numerical (or computer) analysis of electromagnetic devices and phenomena, whereas the last chapter reveals the world of engineering problems, showing how theoretical and methodological considerations can be transferred to real engineerng problems. The editors hope that this book will help the world-wide electromagnetic community, both academic and engineering, in better understanding electromagnetism itself and its application to technical problems.

Book Description
This fourth edition of the text reflects the continuing increase in awareness and use of computational electromagnetics and incorporates advances and refinements made in recent years. Most notable among these are the improvements made to the standard algorithm for the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method and treatment of absorbing boundary conditions in FDTD, finite element, and transmission-line-matrix methods. It teaches the readers how to pose, numerically analyze, and solve EM problems, to give them the ability to expand their problem-solving skills using a variety of methods, and to prepare them for research in electromagnetism. Includes new homework problems in each chapter. Each chapter is updated with the current trends in CEM. Adds a new appendix on CEM codes, which covers commercial and free codes. Provides updated MATLAB code.

Book Description
Computational Intelligence (CI) has been a tremendously active area of - search for the past decade or so. There are many successful applications of CI in many sub elds of biology, including bioinformatics, computational - nomics, protein structure prediction, or neuronal systems modeling and an- ysis. However, there still are many open problems in biology that are in d- perate need of advanced and e cient computational methodologies to deal with tremendous amounts of data that those problems are plagued by. - fortunately, biology researchers are very often unaware of the abundance of computational techniques that they could put to use to help them analyze and understand the data underlying their research inquiries. On the other hand, computational intelligence practitioners are often unfamiliar with the part- ular problems that their new, state-of-the-art algorithms could be successfully applied for. The separation between the two worlds is partially caused by the use of di erent languages in these two spheres of science, but also by the relatively small number of publications devoted solely to the purpose of fac- itating the exchange of new computational algorithms and methodologies on one hand, and the needs of the biology realm on the other. The purpose of this book is to provide a medium for such an exchange of expertise and concerns. In order to achieve the goal, we have solicited cont- butions from both computational intelligence as well as biology researchers.

Book Description
The IEEE International Conference on Intelligence and Security Informatics (ISI) and Pacific Asia Workshop on Intelligence and Security Informatics (PAISI) conference series (http://www. isiconference. org) have drawn significant attention in the recent years. Intelligence and Security Informatics is concerned with the study of the dev- opment and use of advanced information technologies and systems for national, int- national, and societal security-related applications. The ISI conference series have brought together academic researchers, law enforcement and intelligence experts, - formation technology consultant and practitioners to discuss their research and pr- tice related to various ISI topics including ISI data management, data and text mining for ISI applications, terrorism informatics, deception and intent detection, terrorist and criminal social network analysis, public health and bio-security, crime analysis, - ber-infrastructure protection, transportation infrastructure security, policy studies and evaluation, information assurance, among others. In this book, we collect the work of the most active researchers in the area. Topics include data and text mining in terr- ism, information sharing, social network analysis, Web-based intelligence monitoring and analysis, crime data analysis, infrastructure protection, deception and intent det- tion and more. Scope and Organization The book is organized in four major areas. The first unit focuses on the terrorism - formatics and data mining. The second unit discusses the intelligence and crime analysis. The third unit covers access control, infrastructure protection, and privacy. The forth unit presents surveillance and emergency response.
