By this accident of birth, all the progeny of the Okoro family were assigned to be natives of Isoko. The Okoro family lived in Zungera in a different region of the country, Konganoga. In the course of his education, James started from Zungera and studied in Premier University in yet another part of the country. For the prescribed National Service, he was posted to teach in a co-educational government secondary school, Kejigi. There, he met Fatima, a full-time member of staff. Slowly at first and steadily later, the need for further education would set both on a course. In spite of circumstances to the contrary, religion and culture, James and Fatima developed affection for each other. James was admitted to do a Masters program in Detroit, USA. Before he left for the USA, they introduced themselves to their parents who were oblivious of their mutual affectionate relationship. Eventually, Fatima joined James in Detroit. The two families were persuaded to consent to the desired marital union of James and Fatima. They got married and raised their family in the USA. In spite of the disparate socio-economic realities between Konganoga and the USA, James and Fatima returned home to settle down.

The church in its first centuries split on whether Christ saved everyone or a few, Universalism versus Exclusivism. In the sixth century, the church settled the issue seemingly and held that Universalism was heresy. This book reviews this history as well as what provoked it--Scripture, on its face, gives two contradictory accounts of salvation's extent: everyone is ultimately saved and everyone is not. In contrast to both Exclusivism and Universalism, the book takes Scripture's two accounts of salvation's extent as true--that is, as a paradox. This is the approach the church has taken with other scriptural paradoxes. Saying one God is three, or one Son is both God and man, appeared to be contradictory too, but, to embrace Scripture entirely, these were seen as paradoxical. The Trinity modeled how one can be three, and the hypostatic union modeled how one can be two. For the paradox of salvation's extent, the answer lies in the individual's divisibility in the afterlife, one can be two. That is, in ultimate salvation, each individual can be both saved and unsaved.

The Russian Revolution of 1917 has often been presented as a complete break with the past, with everything which had gone before swept away, and all aspects of politics, economy, and society reformed and made new. Recently, however, historians have increasingly come to question this view, discovering that Tsarist Russia was much more entangled in the processes of modernisation, and that the new regime contained much more continuity than has previously been acknowledged. This book presents new research findings on a range of different aspects of Russian society, both showing how there was much change before 1917, and much continuity afterwards; and also going beyond this to show that the new Soviet regime established in the 1920s, with its vision of the New Soviet Person, was in fact based on a complicated mixture of new Soviet thinking and ideas developed before 1917 by a variety of non-Bolshevik movements.
