Contexte : La population immigrée originaire des pays d’Asie du sud figure parmi les composantes les plus méconnues de la mosaïque sociale Française. Venant d’une vague d’immigration récente, cette population reste une énigme dans le milieu médical ce qui rend difficile leurs prise en charge à l’hôpital comme en ville. Objectif : Identifier les problématiques médico-sociales des patients migrants d’Asie du Sud en situation de précarité, ainsi que leurs parcours de santé. Méthode : Étude qualitative par entretiens semi dirigés menés auprès de 18 patients migrants consultant à la PASS de Saint Louis. Les patients interrogés ont évoqué leurs parcours de soins, leurs problèmes médicaux et sociaux, exprimé leurs attentes et leur ressenti. L’avis des professionnels a été recueilli par un questionnaire ouvert. Résultats : La difficulté spécifique principale des migrants est avant tout la barrière de la langue, à laquelle l’interprétariat ne peut pas toujours répondre. Le profil de ces patients correspond à des hommes jeunes, en France depuis en moyenne 3 ans, non francophones, sans emploi et avec un logement instable. Ainsi, leur suivi médical s’avère complexe. Conclusion : Cette étude a permis de mettre en évidence les spécificités de cette population, et les questions concernant l’adéquation à notre système de soin, et en particulier de la médecine de ville.
