Catalytic Hydrogenation
Author: L. Cervený
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080960618
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 705
Book Description
The collection of contributions in this volume presents the most up-to-date findings in catalytic hydrogenation. The individual chapters have been written by 36 top specialists each of whom has achieved a remarkable depth of coverage when dealing with his particular topic. In addition to detailed treatment of the most recent problems connected with catalytic hydrogenations, the book also contains a number of previously unpublished results obtained either by the authors themselves or within the organizations to which they are affiliated.Because of its topical and original character, the book provides a wealth of information which will be invaluable not only to researchers and technicians dealing with hydrogenation, but also to all those concerned with homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, organic technology, petrochemistry and chemical engineering.

Hydrogenation of Fats and Oils
Author: Gary R. List
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0128043490
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 430
Book Description
As in the first edition, discussion is not confined to vegetable oils, and the hydrogenation technique is considered in detail. The "why" as well as the "how" of hydrogenation are addressed. Written for both production staff who need advice on specific problems and development personnel who seek directions, if not solutions, the book offers direct practical advice along with explanations of why changes occur as they do. The glossary of technical terms contains a more detailed explanation of some features mentioned throughout the text. - Emphasizes techniques for trans fatty acid reduction or complete removal in food products - Features extensive information on hydrogenation methods, isomer formation, and catalysts used - Includes an extensive glossary of hydrogenation and related technical terms

Catalytic and Process Study of the Selective Hydrogenation of Acetylene and 1,3-Butadiene
Author: Ruijun Hou
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 981100773X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 151
Book Description
This thesis offers novel methods for catalyst and process design for the selective hydrogenation of acetylene and 1,3-butadiene. The author predicts the properties of supported Pd–Ni bimetallic catalysts using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD). The excellent correlation between model surfaces and supported catalysts demonstrates the feasibility of designing effective bimetallic catalysts for selective hydrogenation reactions. The author also proposes a method for designing non-precious metal catalysts to replace precious metals. She modifies the process of selective hydrogenation of acetylene by coupling the selective adsorption to the selective hydrogenation in the liquid phase, as a result of which the ethylene selectivity is greatly improved and heat transfer is greatly enhanced. Lastly, by analyzing the mechanism of liquid-phase hydrogenation, the author proposes a multi-stage slurry bed reactor for industrial applications.“/p>

Hydrogenation
Author: Iyad Karamé
Publisher: BoD – Books on Demand
ISBN: 9535107852
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 342
Book Description
The domain of catalytic hydrogenation continues to grow fast, reflecting the wide range of chemical applications that can be enhanced by the easy use of molecular hydrogen. The advances in characterization techniques and their application have improved our understanding of the catalytic processes and mechanisms occurring in both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. The aim of this volume, although not exhaustive, is to provide a general overview of new progress of the hydrogenation reactions. This volume comprises a series of various contributions, as reviews or original articles, treating heterogeneously and homogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation reactions. It is composed of three parts: hydrogenation reactions in fine organic chemistry, hydrogenation reactions in environmental chemistry and renewable energy, and special topics in hydrogenation.
