The purpose of this study was to determine the minimum amount of mathematical skill required for successful completion of the Basic Electronics Subcourse presented in the Air Defense School. Mathematical skills were measured by a test prepared by the Air Defense Human Research Unit and by the Lankton First Year Algebra Test. Written tests, practical tests, final grade average, and disposition category were used as school success measures. These measures were collected on from 187 to 243 first-time-entering trainees in Basic Electronics. Statistical analyses were performed on these data to obtain answers for the second and third research problems. Eight written tests from Basic Electronics were analyzed for mathematical content.
