Book Description
Conventional wisdom among knife-fighting experts has it that knife throwing is a pursuit best left to circus performers, hillbilly theme park workers and hobbyists, and that it is useless for combat. In this update to his groundbreaking book, Ralph Thorn incorporates the very latest developments in equipment, theory, techniques and training to show why weapons throwing is even more suitable for actual combat today. Thorn, who has practiced his craft for decades, begins by showing you how to balance a knife for throwing, including an explanation of the recent discovery of the universal perfect balance point that maximizes the ability to eliminate rotation in oblong throwing weapons. Next, he shows you how to design and make your own throwing knives out of readily available materials, build targets and practice various combat throwing techniques, with an emphasis on both safety and accuracy. He then demonstrates the best overhand, underhand and sidearm throws, and discusses the situations where each style works best. The author also includes chapters on psychological and physical conditioning, hunting and recreational skills, and the newest developments in weapons throwing. This updated edition of Combat Knife Throwing should be read by every sportsman, knife aficionado and individual interested in self-defense.

Book Description
While a member of the U.S. Air Force in Morocco in 1954-55, I was assigned to attend French language classes. While in class, I met Marcel, he was also ordered to attend classes in the French Language. Marcel was a U.S. citizen who was in the French Foreign Legion at the time. He also said he was told by his Officers that he had one year to learn the French Language or he may not be allowed to remain in the Foreign Legion. It was discovered Marcel was an expert at knife throwing, one of my life long desires. He agreed to teach me all the knowledge required to throw knives. After a few days we started our knife throwing training. I was told by him that it would take approximately three months to learn the art of knife throwing. We first built a wooden target, three ft. by three ft. and placed on posts buried in the ground at approximately six foot high. The knives are to be thrown at the target from fifteen to eighteen ft. away. The knives are constructed from one piece of flexible stainless steel. They are approximately eleven inches long,. Whenever the occasion allowed, Marcel and I traveled to places in Morocco to observe the sights. Roman ruins, women's prison, locus swarm, dust storms. If it was there, we wanted to see it. I felt compelled to describe our trips in my knife throwing manual. The knife throwing manual covers how to throw knives in a very well outlined method. It repeats it's self several times to make sure the student fully understands exactly what is required by him to be a successful knife thrower. The manual covers how a throwing knife is constructed and why. It covers how to hold the throwing knife and how to release it. How to take steps when throwing and using your arms to obtain your goal. And making the knife stick where you wish. This manual is aimed at the training of the novice knife thrower. Those who use it should reach a satisfying level in knife throwing. I am thankful for your purchase of this manual and hope to see you all throw someday.
