Book Description
At the end of the twentieth century petty criminal Ross Murdock is given the choice of facing a new psychiatric medical procedure called rehabilitation or volunteering to join a secret government project. Hoping for a chance to escape, Ross volunteers to join Operation Retrograde and is taken by Major John Kelgarries to a base built under the ice near the North Pole. Teamed with archaeologist Gordon Ashe, he is trained to mimic a trader of the Beaker culture of Bronze-Age Europe. Sent back to southern Britain around 2000 BCE, Ross and Ashe find that their outpost has been bombed. Discovering the direction whence the bomber came, Ross, Ashe, and McNeil, the lone survivor of the bombing, follow the clues. Somewhere near the Baltic Sea, Ross, Ashe, and McNeil begin building a Beaker trading post and learn from the locals that nearby is a land populated by ghosts, a land whither no man of good sense would go. Ross gets separated from Ashe and McNeil in a night attack and must go into the taboo area alone in an effort to find them.

Book Description
The Blight of Asia contains first-hand accounts of the Christian massacres which took place in Turkey and Greece during the early 20th century. George Horton worked in the Diplomatic Corps of the United States, and was posted to Greece and the Ottoman Empire for most of his career as a diplomatic attache. Working across several offices in what is now Turkey and Greece, he witnessed the chaotic fall of the Ottoman government - a period in which great numbers of people were killed by Islamists for their ethnicity and their faith. The grim accounts of continuous, sustained persecution of Christian peoples in various cities and districts spares no detail. Horton felt repulsed by the often Medieval-toned barbarism and inhumanity of the killings; the 'Blight of Asia' is Horton's shorthand term for the horrors unleashed by the Ottoman Empire during its final years. Partly biographical, this memoir charts Horton's life in the different diplomatic offices. After introducing the book with historical mentions of earlier killings, the detailed main body of work - inclusive of sometimes horrifying eyewitness accounts dating from 1909 onward - is presented to the reader. Horton was catapulted to fame for authoring this book. His systematic method, which details the various massacres of Christians in Asia Minor and Greece during the early 20th century, is eloquent, civilized and composed in the face of terrible inhumanity. Perhaps the worst single event was the Great Fire of Smyrna in September 1922, wherein many thousands of people were immolated in the maelstrom. Some modern scholars, such as Biray Kolluoglu Kırlı and Peter M. Buzanski, have criticized what they perceive as Horton's anti-Turkey bias, noting his ideological opinions and the fact his wife was Greek. However, The Blight of Asia remains one of the most influential and important sources regarding these bloody episodes in Turkish and Greek history.

Book Description
David Grossman's masterly fusing of vision, thought, and emotion make See Under: Love a luminously imaginative and profoundly affecting work. In this powerful novel by one of Israel's most prominent writers, Momik, the only child of Holocaust survivors, grows up in the shadow of his parents' history. Determined to exorcise the Nazi "beast" from their shattered lives and prepare for a second holocaust he knows is coming, Momik increasingly shields himself from all feeling and attachment. But through the stories his great-uncle tells him—the same stories he told the commandant of a Nazi concentration camp—Momik, too, becomes "infected with humanity." "A dazzling work of imagination."--Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times

Book Description
The New Dictionary of Christian Apologetics is a must-have resource for professors and students, pastors and laypersons--in short, for any Christian who wishes to understand or develop a rational explanation of the Christian faith in the context of today's complex and ever-changing world. Packed with hundreds of articles that cover the key topics, historic figures and contemporary global issues relating to the study and practice of Christian apologetics, this handy one-volume resource will make an invaluable addition to any Christian library. Editors Gavin McGrath and W. C. Campbell-Jack, with consulting editor C. Stephen Evans, have divided the dictionary into two parts: Part one offers a series of introductory essays that set the framework for the dictionary. These essays examine the practice and importance of Christian apologetics in light of theological, historical and cultural concerns. Part two builds on these essays to present numerous alphabetized articles on individuals, ideas, movements and disciplines that are vital to a rational explanation of the Christian faith. Both essays and articles are written by leading Christian philosophers and theologians. Together, they form an indispensable resource for Christians living in today's pluralistic age.

Book Description
“One of the most refreshing, humorous, and radically honest books about practical and comparative religion this reviewer has ever come across.”—Library Journal (starred review) Create Your Own Religion is a call to arms—an open invitation to question all the values, beliefs, and worldviews that humanity has so far held as sacred in order to find the answers we need to the very practical problems facing us. Writer, philosopher, and professor of comparative religion, Daniele Bolelli, leads the reader through three thousand years of mythology, misogyny, misinformation, and the flat-out lies about “revealed truth” that continue to muddle our ability to live a peaceful life, free of guilt and shame and the ultimate fear of death. “Our worldviews are in desperate need of some housecleaning,” says Bolelli. “We enter the 21st century still carrying on our backs the prejudices and ways of thinking of countless past generations. What worked for them may or may not still be of use, so it is our job to make sure to save the tools that can help us and let go of the dead weight.” “With a cheerful, good-natured smile, Daniele Bolelli torpedoes the often luxurious but spiritually leaky battleships that sail under the various flags of the world’s organized religions.”—Tom Robbins, New York Times bestselling author “Daniele Bolelli is in the house. Minds will be blown. Lives will be changed.”—Joe Rogan, comedian and podcast host “Bolelli’s direct confrontation with dogma without giving an inch and without prescribing a new dogma is about as fresh as it gets.”—Mike Vallely, skateboarder, musician, and actor
