They moved to Seattle, Washington in 1878. He founded the Simpson Logging Company in 1895 in Mason County, Washington. Solomon died in 1906 and the company was taken over by Mark Edward Reed (1866- ), son of Thomas Milburne Reed and Elizabeth Finley. Mark married Irene Simpson in 1901.
