Book Description
Today, several Hindu youngsters do not have much knowledge on Hinduism. In particular, the Indian diaspora are ignorant about their own religion. It is a small wonder that many youngsters in India and abroad have urged me to write a simple book on Hinduism. They want to have better understanding of the religion they love and follow. I am aware that there are any number of books available on Hinduism. But, several of them are written in a style that is extremely difficult to comprehend. The youngsters and students require a book written in simple language to understand the basic concepts of Hinduism, which is vast and highly involved. That is why I have to spend several years to get a grasp of the subject myself. I have served as a Space Scientist and researcher for 25 years and thereafter, as a Professor and educational administrator and researcher for 20 more years. Naturally, I have gone through hundreds of books, reports, blogs and URLs over a period of 15 years before publishing the book. However, study on Hinduism has given me more emotional satisfaction than any investigation of science and technology. Even though, I am a scientist, I believe that religion and science should be kept apart. Because, religion is based on belief. I have tried to present varied aspects of Hinduism as accurately as possible. I have tried to give answers to the various questions raised by the youngsters through Question-Answer format, based on extensive study of the available data. My own personal opinions are kept to the minimum. I have done the Cover Design, Book Design and formatting myself without any external assistance, even at my age of 74 to conserve resources. There are a billion Hindus living not only India, but also in countries such as USA, Canada, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Burma, Middle East, Guyana, Suriname, etc., for whom, this book will be extremely useful. The Indian diaspora requires a better understanding of Hinduism, because, they have been living away from India for a long time. This book will help the diaspora and NRI children to get a clear picture about Hinduism, Indian culture and traditions. Further, this book will be useful to the school and college students who want to have a good knowledge of Hinduism in simple terms. This book will also be useful to the Hindu scholars, experts and saints who won't mind yet another interpretation of Hinduism: this time from a Scientist. I hope the youngsters in India and abroad will benefi from this work.
